Never ceases to fascinate me how your posts are beautifully recursive in nature.

Welcome back, to both of us. : )

The monkey part was: on days when one is feeling particularly how and the monkey in the brain is brooding on and on, it helps to reflect on that fact that the problem could be tougher. If the man is the one beginning to find it a chore - problem is tougher to mitigate. Means, the woman can show up to the potluck with no dish in hand. The man cannot. : )

The post also said: not making fun of the situation.. just that sometimes humor is all one has to get through the day or hour.

Yes. She can do circumspect, and finesse, like nobody's bizness.

    Every story has two sides.
This story is his side as told by his mother Mrs L.
The other side i.e.Mrs M is unlikely to show Mr M in a better light.

That's true. But there might be factors that show how the marriage or divorce was not fair to Mr. M. Maybe, it was made clear to Mrs. M at the start that Mr. M's parents will be very much a part of their lives, and will eventually move in. Maybe, she got an expensive private college degree after marriage and before she started working, maybe their marital assets were equally divided while he was earning much higher. Maybe, she planned it well, and found legal ways to send biggish chunks of money to India over the years so the eventual financial distribution was not fair to the man.

Anyway, all said and done, at any point, either partner has the right and the option to end the marriage. What physical, mental and other efforts each put into the marriage can be analyzed fairly only to a certain extent. Beyond that, such is life.

I am actually glad the OP shared that story. Gives hope and ideas to women stuck in similar marriages. With some sound professional advice and planning, a woman can break free when the younger/youngest child goes off to college.

LOL... out of the mouths of babes, indeed !!
backstory: Netflix and chill - Wikipedia

Before "chill" became an internet code, it was the simple phrase "good sleeping weather" when a couple may use each other as a duvet and find comfort. The word "comfort" has also stood-in as a euphemism now and then. In America a duvet is actually a comforter.

Such agreements are not unconditional. It depends on how she was treated by in laws too. Just because she agreed does not mean she will never have a say in her own life.

She worked outside and she took care for the family completely because her ex could not manage after she left. If he had been contributing at home,he wouldn't have found it so hard.
If she did all that ,she did deserve equal or even more.
Pretty sure that would be first on the list of mil's grievances if that happened.:)
Money hurts a lot more than a dil gone.

    Rest I agree.

I am amazed the husband could not manage even with the help of parents...... specially with the kids gone.
Could be hurt ego or depression.
