Just like they say more darker the Mehendi gets, the more the husband loves the wife.

    Orangish color means less love?

My body temperature is high most of the times. !

The long married ones with plenty of love every day and each day exhibited in their hair-part, would have that hair-part widened into a distinctly bald line. The bald patch doesn't want to hold on to any powders, and the sindoor would look like two red lines with a shiny spot in the middle. This made me wonder if sindoor could be a good hair-removing agent for other parts. Unfortunately it is just not a safe&healthy way for depilation: Other health hazards | The Times of India

There is a play called "She stoops to Conquer".... not exactly a Saas-Bahu affair... but the general idea might apply in all cases. Pick the right battles, befriend certain enemies, and eventually conquer the lot of them.

A single person, new bahu, having to stand up against the opinions of a cabal of many people at the in-law household, could require the 5-tantras of the ancient India. Direct assault is not usually a good strategy in such cases. Insidious subversion could work better; however, each person's savvy with such techniques would vary.

That thread's OP was collecting the various options for tackling her issue.

I agree one should choose the battle wisely. But a SIL's interference is somewhat a tricky one. Acceptance won't happen for us and we can't even reject or deny their interference.

But sometimes it gets on the nerves, sometimes as they say in Tamil "free ah vidu" - means let it go.

At the end of the day we should aim for a "no conflict " relationship with in laws, sister in law etc.

My MIL wanted me and SIL to be good friends. She started off my asking me to seek her suggestions for clothes ,jewelry etc for my wedding. My Punjabi independence screamed out in my head lol . I stood my ground and MIL gave up haha.
MIL has also shared SIL’s opinions of me and my choices. I was better off not knowing . Needless to say, SIL and me are not friends but age has made us more tolerant of each other. If I look back , I realize I was always civil with her irrespective of how I was treated, but I always stood my ground and did what I wanted to do. So I have no regrets.
