[/QUOTE] Dear @RekhaKulkarni , I am so glad you enjoyed the Baba's darshan. I will pray for your cheerful life to Baba in my special Thursday prayers from next Thursday onwards. You should also please pray daily, preferably after your showers, Baba or your Ishta Devata with total devotion and determination, and ending your prayers with," Let Thy Will Happen". You will see your burden taken away and soon your prayers being blessed. Have Shraddha (Faith) and Saburi (Patience) as taught by Baba to His devotees. May Baba bless you with a very cheerful life soon. Om Sri Sainath.

'Shraddha' is a Sanskrit word that I am familiar with. What is the origin of the term 'Saburi'? What language is it? What is its etymology? I have not come across it, in an Indian context, outside of the Shirdi Sai Baba literature. If anyone knows, I would appreciate hearing about it! PS: I have not read every post in this thread, so if this has already been discussed, my apologies! Please point me to the relevant posts.
Good pointer @PepperPot! Arabic?!!! Since so little is known about Sai Baba's origins, I am unable to guess what background he may have drawn on. 'Sabr' I can understand (it's used in Hindi as well), but 'Saburi' sounds unusual to my ears. In any case, I will check it out. That book you linked to is part of the SUNY Religious Studies series, so a scholarly effort, not fluff. I ordered a copy, just now. Thanks!
So what's the story of why Sai Baba chose that word? What's his Swahili connection? Is it a loan-word to Swahili from Arabic? Or vice-versa?
