    where parents of a single child reside
    waiting to see their daughter/son and grandchildren
    during summer vacations

    Hi Sriniketan,
    Is this pain felt only by Indians? I thought I'll live so in an apartment or a house in my old age with my husband. Is it going to be bad?

    Sometimes it is not the let down situation, but an unavoidable situation where you are not able to take care and they are not willing to come here...due to their age, their notion of not to be in their daughter's home, etc..

    PS: Needless to say, I am in that situation :-(...still finding ways to be with them,either in US or in India.

    Vidhya,
    It is a norm or shall we say it is our duty to look after our parents.
    In the West, they are used to be independant from the day 1 and they are used to this kind of facility...but I sincerely think that they too would have this kind of feeling of their children to be near them during their old age.
    It won't be that bad Vidhya...don't have worries ...:thumbsup
