It was getting darker and by six, I couldn't see beyond even five feet. Rain came, welcomed by four windows. Dancing, were three trees to a beat. Running the last few feet, those two Entered the house in one quick move. Giggling and gasping, one took two Chocolates, wolfed down in minutes three. They saw the lightning in the fourth minute And heard a series of thunders in five. Turning on, tuning to channel six, They rested a bit till they heard one Low and long wailing note twice. One stood up, and in three strides, Opened the door, came with that four Legged animal under minutes five. It was not until six in the morn, Though alarm was kept at five. One of those snoozed it four times And found that there wasn't three. Both searched for the pup everywhere. Finally one found that looser plank, The next two too, made it to three. Four hours and the house was blank.
nice attempt Mr.S.... I had to read the poem twice...the first time I was more concentrated on counting the numbers written!
That was sort of a freak attempt, BeautifulLife30. I tried focusing on them and through them, a little story with an end that makes them all meaningless. Hope you liked it. -rgs
Rgs, Nice poem on numbers and story as well. But to be frank, I can't understand the last line, why 'four hours and house was blank ' Maybe I am lost again. Lol. Thanks, Vaidehi
No Vaidehi, thats subtle. While I built the story around two of them and added that pup, in the end, all left, leaving the occupants to zero. It was aimed to bring about the lack of meaning in all. -rgs
rgs, That was a wonderful explanation! Because of you, I read this, thought of sharing with you as well. There is a very good explanation on the same thing which you had written, even though I understood vaguely initially, but reading twice certainly would help. Kanchi Maha Periavaa- My Guru: April 2015 Take care, Vaidehi
Dear RGS, A poet with a fancy for numbers! Every line except one has a number in it. Of course that one too, has a both for two!! Enjoyed the rain, the drench, the TV and the story that ends in Zero!
I have read a few other articles of Swaminatha Athreya in Amudhasurabhi or other similar magazine, I don't remember, Vaidehi. This was a wonderful read. Thanks for sharing. Its a form of writing where one meticulously constructs things bit by bit with intricate details and finally breaks things all over. What remains has to be felt by the reader. In fact there has been a fantastic start in the Isavasyopanishad - Everything came out of it; yet it remains the same! Thanks for your appreciation and feedback. -rgs
