Need info abt Change Of Status From F2 to F1 ( similar as H4 to F1 )

Hai
I am in F2 status, I am intending to go to school for Masters. I am thinking to apply for change of status from F2 to F1. Please let me know the process for change of status.

It is similar to Change of Status from H4 to F1.

I am trying to gather information , any inputs are highly appreciated.

Your school DSO should give you a list of forms for this.

I had filed my COS in March and got my approval in May this year, it was 2 months for me.

I believe the form submission process is a little different now - we need to use the online ELIS system. So use that to submit I-539.

This is what I submitted:

· Completed I-539 for change of status

· I-20 issued by my school

· Photocopy of current I-94

· Receipt for payment of SEVIS I-901 fee

· Proof of Financial Support

Sponsorship Letter from my sponsor (Husband)

Bank Statements showing currentbalance

Sponsor’s Pay stubs

· Photocopy of Passport Identification and visapages

· Photocopy of current visa approval I-797

· Current Transcript

Ofcourse, you may also travel to India to get your visa stamped which is a quicker process. Without the visa stamp I am having a lot of stress planning India trips and I have , hence, decided to travel to canada to receive my F-1 visa stamp.
