My Son

Morning started with Divine shuprabahatham for Gayathri ma. She gets up at 5 o clock and starts her routine by preparing coffee for her 5 family members. Herself, her husband, her 2 sons, her mother in law . Gayathri's first son (Arjun)is working as an officer in a private bank, second son(Sai abinav ) in college ,doing engineering, her husband Kumar is working as an officer in a government concern about to retire in 5 years. Gayathri is a happy house wife and mother in law (Mrs Sudha's) favourite daughter in law. Though Sudha has 3 sons and 2 daughters, she stays with Gayathri and Kumar . From starting, even if she visits other children this mother always lives with Kumar as Gayathri was very good to her and she is really lucky to have her as a dil. Even Sudha always made Gayathri feel at home, supported her during her pregnancy and child rearing. Gayathri never allowed Sudha to enter kitchen but Sudha insists on cutting veges. Anybody outside will think they are mom and daughter. A maid cones to help Gayathri in cleaning home and washing vessels .
Now Arjun's marriage is going to take place with a girl chosen by the family . Bride(Anu) is a software engineer , working and brought up in the same metro city. So all is well and the bride won't be feeling homesick as her parents are just 15 km apart in a different area. Anu is liked by all. Anu and Arjun meet up and hangout to malls and movies sometimes. So they understood each other. Arjun and Anu felt they were made for each other. Finally the marriage took place. Sai took many selfies with mom ,dad, bro and sil. Sudha sang old songs, anthakshari was held.
A month went on well in Gayathri's home. One month went with the new couple going to visit relatives, sightseeing etc. Now from next day Anu and Arjun are joining their respective jobs. The next morning Anu got my up at 7 am, she got dressed up and came down to see breakfast ready by 8 am. Gayathri asked. her to eat as she might feel hungry and not wait for others as every one eats at 8.30 am only. Anu ate and really appreciated Gayathri's culinary skills. Shudha ate with her. Sudha was happy to see her grand son's wife so modern educated , moreover pleasant in speaking too.

 

I have always believed happy families would be true when we adjust being younger person but unfortunately the problems may be beyond adjustment .but

But here I am going to show how each person can adjust to create a happy family. Yes till now everything is good. Any external influence can disturb the family or even any person can go overboard. How the family and who bends more to make the family unit survive is the story.

 

In this story u will see a difference . I am not going to say dil should adjust. It is different. Every one will do their good. Gayathri is my lead role .she will be more accommodating to dil,mil her sons. This is from a different angle.

 

3 months flew in Gayathri's home with laughter, joy of young couple, Anu teasing Sai, Arjun teasing Anu,Sudha had a great time with Anu , she gave tips to Anu regarding cooking. Sundays usually Gayathri's sons and husband helps her in cleaning and cutting veges , they make dosas or chappathis for all. So now Anu too joined ,in Saturday and Sunday chores. It all went on well untill our entry Mrs Shailaja(Anu's aunt from Kuwait) comes to visit our heroine's hone as she did not attend Anu's marriage. She bought many stuffs as present for Anu like perfumes 2 bottle, dates stuffed with almond, a beautiful Salwar, a gold earrings,a courtesy gift of photo frame for Gayathri and a tigerbalm to Sudha. The Nri aunt's talk was more beautiful and everyone liked her and she is going to stay there for 1 week.Anu was really happy and got her guest room ready .Aunt asked her in person if she was happy , Anu told she was very happy.Aunt had 2 daughters who are elder than Anu and married and settled in USA and UK respectively.
But Aunt was not impressed with the old house constructed around 1960s of Anu, though it is of 2500 square feet ground floor plus there are 4 rooms in the first floor too.She thought that Anu's parents made a big mistake of marrying her in this home. So she immediately called her Younger sister(Anu's mom) and started complaining about the older house, repaired water heater, salty groundwater and she does not like to stay here even for a day how come Anu will stayshere forever. Her sister as she just visits her daughter and did not know the quality of the house though she felt the house has good value of money in crores in that area now. So they were impressed with the money value. Now Anu's mom is bothered. But no use worrying now. She wanted to see Anu. She too came home. Gayathri was very happy to see her ,welcomed her . Gayathri made special Tiffin as it was evening 5, super tea. And told it is time for Any to return. Anu gies in scooty and both her sons take bike for their travel. Aunt was shocked when told , she asked if there was no car . for that Gayathri replied they are planning to buy a car. Even Kumar gets to office in sooty only. Aunt was really not satisfied.

 

That night Mrs Shailaja asked Anu to stay back for half an hour to talk to Anu in the guest room. Shailaja asked Anu, if she is really happy to be here in the old home, with no luxury. Anu told with innocence that she loved the family especially Gayathri her mom in law was a great inspiration to her. She keeps the home happy, she is a good daughter in law to Sudha ma. She is her role model. Hearing this Shailaja said she pitied Anu, as she was naive and believed everyone. Gayathri looks soft but she is cunningly controlling the entire family and making Anu submissive to her SWEET speech and puppet to her. Hearing this Anu was confused and started over thinking .suddenly she heard Arjun call her and went to her room.
Next day morning as usual or started with Gayathri making coffee for all. Anu came from her room by 6 o clock , to get coffee . she saw Gayathri who started preparing little elaborate breakfast . she voluntarily helped her. Gayathri told her to get ready for office rather than helping her. Anu felt that her aunt was wrong and Gayathri was a real gem. Later in the dining table everyone were present ,Shailaja asked Anu to serve Arjun and others, Gayathri told Anu also to sit and eat as she is also working and need not strain herself. Shailaja was angry and later in the evening told Anu that Gayathri is not allowing her to even serve her husband as she is scared that her son will move away from his mom. Anu was confused. Shailaja asked Anu to take hold of her husband by leaving to a nuclear home rather then being here with no privacy. Anu was little sad to leave the family but she was brainwashed saying she needs to be the queen of her family. Anu went in deep thinking. Next day she told Arjun about it in their bedroom. Arjun was shocked as he thought Anu really liked his home and he was happy that Gayathri took care of her as her own daughter. He was proud of his mom. Gayathri makes her sons work but made Anu take rest as she usually says since she did not have a daughter, she at least wants to pamper her daughter in law. Now Arjun asked if she had any problems at home. Anu told that she wanted to be the queen and controller of her home. After a big brainstorming session Arjun had no other choice than to get transfer and move to a new city as it won't be good to move to new home in same city , he did not want his family members to know Anu wanted to move out. He wanted everyone to see Anu the same always.
