Moving From CA to John's Creek, need advice!!

Hi,

I am DJ and we are moving from CA, Bay Area to John's Creek GA. We have been in CA for almost 10 years now and we have finally decided to move out, but since with every change comes anxiety. I am rooting for support and assurance from you wonderful ladies here in the group
Wanted to know if anybody in the group has migrated from CA?
How long it took for you to adapt?
How are the preschools and elementary school system?
Suggestions or advice for a smoother settling in John's creek.
Things we should be prepared for ?
How easy is it to find a reliable nanny?
Activities for small kids?
Safety ?

Sorry for the delay.
Congrats on the move and Good luck !
I'm sure you wont miss CA even a bit. We have a huge amount of Indian community, 7 temples around Johns creek , lots of indian stores around the corner too.

Wanted to know if anybody in the group has migrated from CA? = There have been couple of such updates a long time back, I dont know of any recent move.

How long it took for you to adapt? I cant say that directly . It depends on kid's ages, parent's jobs etc.
I'd say you can pretty much get settled in a week with Apartment , basic amenities.
2 weeks to get used to roads and stores
1 month for picking and enrolling kids extra curricular classes

How are the preschools and elementary school system?
Its very good. Johns creek has great rating where schools fall within top 10 in Georgia.

Suggestions or advice for a smoother settling in John's creek.
Pretty much everything is available online. So while you have time, do you research.

Things we should be prepared for ? Driving ! I say this for all ladies, please learn driving. There is NO public transport in johnscreek. So you have to drive for everywhere. No possibility of walking to a nearby store too.

How easy is it to find a reliable nanny? Not easy. This is not CA in that aspect. You have lots of baby sitters who take care of babies at their own house but wont travel to your house as a nanny.
If you are inclined to have nanny, you can try online services for that.

Activities for small kids? Lots are there. depends on your preference - slokas , swimming, Gymboree play , Tamil / telugu schools.

Safety ? Its very very safe as long as you dont display any indian style thoranam or kolam in front of your house.
