Tomorrow May 12 is Mothers' day.For the past few years ,mothers seem to get over generous encomia all over the media.Quotes from Sankara's Matrupanchakam find a place in bit notices." God could not be anywhere and therefore created mothers"
These gold quoted encomia are nice to hear.
True, unmatched is the joy on seeing one's own baby, cute little fingers, soft kicks ,giggling secret and the joy of feeding the baby.
The enjoyment which grows in an increased proportion starts diminishing as the child grows. The same mother who is a little short of being worshipped looks like a devil, as she tries to bring in discipline.
Earlier mothers/grandmas had a relaxed attitude towards children. Many scholars and Nobel laureates were the products of their innocent upbringing. From the motto ' just feed the child.Intelligence and learning will be automatic',
the theme has reached high levels.Mothers do extensive research on all topics. There are books fro child up bringing according to age.Modern mothers accept nothing short of perfection. They suffer agony if the child misses a single mark. Many mothers commit a great bluder while trying to fit the child into a mould of their own.
Mothers' day is just a theme.Let us not be carried away by the exaggerated encomia.Let us reflect and make an earnest self assessment leading to ideal motherhood depending on the needs of children.
When mothers put an end to fixing unrealistic targets on kids;when mothers realise the difference beween being supportive and domineering;when parenting is no longer a competition;when all realize that female foeticides and infanticides are no way different from annihilation of motherhood-then and only then,Mothers' Day will have real significance.

    :hello:Madam Sister,
I imagine that you are the last effective speaker on the podium addressing the audience that remains mesmerised maintaining pin drop silence and at the mention of concluding sentence “A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary."
of your short and yet powerful crescendo of speech, raise together with their hands clapping renting the air.
    Thanks and Regards.
God - mothers are your deputies and so let them... as envisaged in this FB.

For Americans, this Mother's day is filled with Sadness while we remember all the jailed children, some in cages, at the southern border of the country. These are the children of central American refugee mothers, who came to seek asylum.
