    Re: Science behind Temples

    Hi Vimala,

    Very interesting info.
My granny used to insist us to do namaskaram before the dwajasthamba and she used to say that our every wish is fulfilled and even the dwaajasthamba has the power even to erase and rewrite your fate (head writing i.e. thalai ezuthu) if our head touches the ground before the dwajasthamba while we do the namaskaram.

Thanks for sharing the great info. Waiting for more.

    Temples

    Hai friends,

In all temples NAVABASHANAM is being used to fix the Stone statues in the GARBAGRAHAM.
Why they are using it for this purpose? What are all the raw materials used to make NAVABASHANAM?
Anyone can clarify my doubt? Please give your views?

    Re: Temples

    Hi Lalitha
I got the following from a website.
9 mixture of rare medicines like Lingam, Veeram, Pooram, Thaalagam, Manosilai, Gowri, Vellai Paasanam, Kandhagham, Kudhirai Pal Paasanam or Rasasendhooram which is shortly called as "Navapaashanam".

I will get you more details later about the reason why it is used etc.,

You should never use Til Oil, always use ghee for lighting God's lamp.

Re: Can lighting Til lamp be done at your own alter at home?

This is a special one called "ellu kizhi" , til tied in black cloth & lit with Til oil [gingelly oil]itself. We call it Nallennai in Tamil. They give us in temples when we go on Saturdays to light for Saneeswara.
some Saturdays iam unable to go to the temple.,thats why i do this infront of my altar.
Hope there is no harm in that.............

    Hi geevee68,

Maybe you should check with Chitvish. We always use til oil for lighting lamp in front of God.
