Mil Troubles

Can she call the police for grabbing her child, and abusing him with rubber nipples of bottle-feed ? Restraining order for the MIL to stay 500 meters (in the USA it would be yards, wouldn't it ?) away from her home ?

Quite often MIL's come to USA to be baby-minders, and in exchange for that service, they get to foist whatever witch-medicine they had practiced in their home countries. Parents cannot get the benefit of the one without the pain of the other.

 

Yes,most Indian in laws are extremely entitled .They expect complete obedience from dil and assume first right over their son's child.
That does not mean they are right or the dil should accept this .

Most Indian husband also put their families before the wife for a long time.If you feel it is going to rock the marriage boat...you better stay away from asking that question .It might lead to heart break.

As for when they can revisit ....tell him when they accept that you are not an Indian dil .When they accept you as the lady of the house and the mother and primary decision maker in your child's life at this time.
Time you tell your husband clearly that you will not accept this excuse of cultural difference to be treated like this.

There is nothing Indian about being forced to bottle feed. The woman is not just obnoxious but also ignorant.
In my book,any one who tries to restrict or stop a mother from breastfeeding her child is a heartless monster.This is reason enough to realize that this person does not have the interest of the child and the mother at heart and deserves to be cut out of their lives.
