Chapter 31

Trekking became a wonderful memory for all friends. Shirodkar family was happy as they found a suitable girl for Shounak. The match was arranged by Nandini. Her name was Pallavi Sawant, an interior designer by professin. Anushka along with Devki accompanied bride seeing ceremony.

Engagement date was fixed after one month. Shirodkars requested Sawant family for an early date as Arati was due .Wedding date too fixed after 3 month as per advance hall booking. Adish was silently observing how Anushka has become a part of his family.

Sumedh & Aarati arrived before one week of engagement. Arati was in her 4th month. Arati stayed few days at Devki’s place. Anushka tried to spend maximum time with her. She made different dishes for her & made sure to complete her cravings. Arati admired Anushka as well as her cooking skills.

Vedant & Parineeta’s friendship was slowly growing. She loved his maturity, nature. First time she made a healthy friendship after Anushka. Vedant was trying to know her more. He was very patient yet professional. He simply loved her innocence.

Shounak engagement day came. Pallavi wore a pea cock blue saree. Anushka wore a maroon silk saree & looked like an angel. All traditional rituals were performed.

Even Parineeta was too present there. It was Vedant who was absent as he had an emergency. He assured Adish that he will definitely there for wedding.

One night Anushka was not able to sleep. It was about 11.30 pm. Anushka observed that Adish has slept; she got up from her bed & walked out of bedroom.

She went to balcony & stood there browsing her phone. She kept looking at her mother’s photo. All her mom’s memories flashed in front of her. A tear drop made the image blurred. She wiped it with her palm.

“Happy birthday Aai” Anushka wished as the time showed 12 am. She took a deep breath looking at sky & turned to go to sleep. She had no clue that Adish was standing behind her & collided on him. Quickly she balanced herself.

“Sorry, when did you get up?

Ad: when you were busy wishing your aai.

Anushka surprisingly looked at him & smiled.

“Missing your aai very much?” he asked looking at her mobile.

Anushka just nodded to yes.

“You resemble like her”

Anushka liked his words. “Yeah, everyone say so.”

Anushka then shared the memories of time spent with her mother. She casually mentioned” Aai was very optimistic. She always wanted me to be being strong & independent, have a good career & then settle down with a good guy.” Suddenly she paused.

Adish: Achha, & what were your expectations about your future husband?”

This question was totally unexpected for her. She stammered.

“I don’t know” she said while back facing him & smiled to her so that he doesn’t see her. “It’s too late now. Good night”

Adish followed her with a grin.

After three months.

Shounak’s wedding preparations were almost completed. Today was mehendi programme. All ladies gathered at Anushka’s place. The programme started at 6 pm. Riddhi, Nandini, Arati all ladies drew mehendi on their hands.

Anushka wore a chicken white colour top with orange floral printed Patiala. She looked like a beautiful flower. Adish saw her from corner of his eyes. Nandini teased her saying” Anushka’s mehendi will turn dark this time also, like in her wedding because if a girls husband’s love is deep then her mehendi also turns dark. All ladies giggled. Anushka’s face turned pink. Nandini said she will come back once she drops Arati at Swanand’s place & both left.

He was getting nervous. Her mehendi was about to finish. Ladies left one by one once they were done.

As her mehendi completed, she got up & started walking towards kitchen. That moment seeing no one in house, Adish pulled her back holding her hand from elbow, indicating something through his eyes & swiftly took her to their bedroom.
