Poem is inspired based on my desire to find my niche in arts (painting, writing, learning languages) and earning a living (computers, engineering, advanced engineering degrees) and make my Father's dead dreams come true Poem is out of my frustrations I am feeling right now. For past hour I was having a circular discussion and it didn't seem to end ...... Poem is an abstract of this conversation Right now I found an excuse to replace the laptop in my work bag with my paint set to do at lunch ...... ______________________ Live Long Be Happy But Don't Do That Does it Earn you Money Does it Earn you Friends Does it Earn you Respect Build Yourself You Are Young Have Ambitions But You are Not Interested Your Approach Is Wrong Live Long Be Happy But Don't Do That Are you Sure You are Interested In That How many times a Day Do you think of that Why has your interested Waned For that If you are truly Passionate You won't care about food You won't care about sleep You won't care about counting Sheep Live Long Be Happy But Don't Do That Now is the Time to Build Yourself Now is the Time to Build Your Financial Nest Egg Are you sure You are interested in That You won't find Your interest in One day You have an Ocean You can decide which Fish You can be Some people strike it big Due to talent Some people strike it big Due to luck Some people keep searching And are forever stuck Live Long Be Happy God Wants you to Live Long Doesn't matter whether Happy Sad Or somewhere In between Search for your Niche Don't search for Your Niche Your Niche Comes Naturally But what if Something else is Your Niche Live Long Be Happy But Don't do That Keep doing What interests you Take an interest To Delve Deeper Go beyond the Interest Learn the "art" and "math" Behind your Interest Live Long Be Happy But Don't do That I'll be ready for dinner in An Hour
Merely Living long does not guarantee one would live happily and it may lead to leading a vegetate life. long life means you delve deep and find your unique talent which remains latent as you were busy in the materialistic world for bread and butter. those who had hobby live long happily. many celebs attribute their secret of their longevity and happiness to pursuing their hobby or pick up interest in playing music. recent short essay on last sunday issue of the hindu projects this idea very well. You have nicely put forth the same idea in your lovely poem. Regards.
Exactly! I think my real talents are latent and are covered by 1. Financial desired 2. Desire for love and respect 3. Obligation to family's well-being, i.e. bring my Dad's dreams hopes and ambitions back to life. 4. Wanting to finish what I started. Really great way of explaining that!
Thanks for compliments. All the best and Godspeed for what ever you wished for yourself and family. God Bless Us All.
