    Hello everyone !

I'm starting to learn Malayalam. And I would like to read malayalam stories to practice my reading skills and learn Malayalam easily.

I'm finding erotic Malayam stories on Google which aren't what I'm looking for.

Do you know any Malayalam (short) stories? Especially where you just have dialogues (நாடகம் naadaham in Tamil).
Even if it is for little kids I don't mind.

Do you also know any good learning websites for Malayalam?
And audio dramas in Malayalam like comedy for example.
I have some Malayalam movies but I don't have the time to watch them now.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

learn to speak first.writing n reading coming only next.
i m living in chennai, but basically from kerala. i dont know writing n reading in tamil, but i m a fluent tamil speaker.what i had done was nothing other than speaking in tamil wid neighbors.tamil movies helped me a lot.
only by waching 'teja channel' now i can understand telugu.

    i don't agree at all...
i learnt malayalam alphabets in just 2 days and i can read it now.

the easiest way for me to learn a language is to start learning the alphabets,
some grammar, short stories, movies and songs.
but i always start with the alphabets. not only can i have the basics to converse and but also learn deeper. it can also help you learn other dialects of a language.

anyway my only way to learn malayalam PROPERLY is by starting with the alphabets.
I live in France so I can't really practice Malayalam.
If I have stories written in Malayam + movies and songs then I can figure out already some basic patterns then improve my learning a lot faster.

Still you haven't answered my demand.

    Thanxs anyway :)

What about if you want to read the Thirukural or other books?

Usually when I learn a language I also like to read a bit about its literature :)

dont go for drama ,fiction and essays. these will b very difficult for a beginer. initially it will b good to start with childrens literature.there u can find that link also.

wats your relation with malayalam.is ther anyone else speaking malayalam at your home .
    howz ur listening skill?
    r u good in translation.

if u can ,once u come to kerala, u can collect malayalam text books of lower primary students(state syllabus). thats the best suggession frm me.

    Thanks for the links :)

I have no relation with Malayalam, I just want to learn it.
    I like learning Indian languages.
For the moment, my learning resources are Malayalam songs, movies and stories.
My listening skills are pretty good and also good in translation.

For the moment, I'm really hoping to find resources that will teach me about the grammar.
Because I can easily learn the vocabulary. Not only through songs and movies, but because Malayalam and Tamil (specially Sri Lankan Tamil which I speak) have some similarities.
So the grammar structure is what is really important I guess

I heard that written and spoken Malayalam are the same. Is it true?
I have sound doubt about that...

    Nobody speaks Malayalam at home.
Though my father can understand a bit cause he lived for 6 months in Kerala.

Anyway thanks for the reply :thumbsup
    I appreciate

yes tamil and malayalam are related.
well i think some malayalam is different from others, depending where you are from but you should be able to understand it. the difference is not so big.
i know that there are bilingual childrens books in malayalam/english
check amazon or the internet maybe you can find one there.
i have ordered one called farmer duck.
its a childrens book and very thin and the translation isnt very accurate.
but it might be what your looking for?
    children love the story.

if the translation isn't accurate it won't help me at all.
I found a book on the grammar online.
i'm just having hard time reading cause it's written in Roman Transcript.
So I'm not sure how the pronounciation should be.
I will have to guess and try to find through Malayalam movies...
