Card games with regular cards: hearts, euchre, poker, texas hold'em, cribbage, bridge.

Backgammon, mahjong, monopoly, risk, chess, checkers.

Requiring a table: pool, pingpong, snooker. You can buy gaming tables that have snooker table underneath and a card table set up on a removable lid if you decide to really play a lot of games.

 

You can buy wii or xbox game station. We played at our friends place and just loved it.
With kinect sensor, it is very interactive now, it has lot of games(bowling, Football, Table Tennis, Boxing, Volley Ball etc), has a lot of less active games like Uno, Monopoly, puzzles etc and lot of exercise kind of games like Balacing a board, kick boxing, yoga and zen etc. It is very addictive and my friend is completely engaged and no longer complains of being bored :thumbsup. She also said it is a wonderful workout during winters as playing these games for about 30 minutes everyday easily burns atleast 100 calories.

the hazy figure is you and all you do is stand before the television at a distance and move your hands as you would with a table tennis bat and the kinect sensor in front of the tv will detect your motions and map it to the game. You do not need a remote or anything, just use your hands, legs and body(as required by the game)

Wii has its own games as well and a motion sensor. But Kinect is available only in xbox right now.
