    Hi,
Either you can machine stitch the Fall[locking stitch]in the lower edge of the saree and use running sitich with interval of back stitch[to hold the fall in place]to fix.

.Machine locking stitch is done of late in Mumbai and it fixes faster than the minimium of 45 mnts to fix the fall by hand sewing.

    Hi Rekha,
spread the saree on a flat surface. secure the fall with safety pins to the saree,So that, there or no folds.Once its' done you can use either tacking or hemming.Hope it helps.

    Hello sabarimathi,
Machine lock facilities are available in certain models of sewing machines[which to my knowledge-Tailors use].Back stitch and running stitch to be done by hand sewing.Machine stitching the top portion of the fall will give a cringed finish to the saree.Dont try that.

re: How To Stitch a fall to a saree?

To stich a saree fall i usually do backstitch on the lower side and for the upper side I usually spread the saree on a flat surface and place a large heavy tin on the fall just ahead of the area that needs stitching , straighting out any creases as you go, and do running stitch, this avoids the saree looking pulled on the upper side.

re: How To Stitch a fall to a saree?

    Hi Rekha,

    1. First fix the lower edge of the sari to the fall with small running stitches and back stitches in between.
    2. Now take a small stitch in the sari and bring the needle up.Just above that stitch, take a stitch about one-quarter of an inch in length along the fall only Thread will be inside the fall.
    3. Once again take a small stitch in the sari . next one big stitch in the fall...... Proceed in this manner, drawing the thread tight enough to hold fall to the sari without wrinkles
I hope you will be able to understand my explanation I have attached an image also.
