I have a 2.5 months old baby. For the past 2 days I have cold (sneezing often) and running nose. I breastfeed my baby. I don't want her to get infected from. How do I prevent it?
hello cutiepie, as u got cold, to fight with it ur body produces more strong antibodies so keep breastfeeding ur baby and once done stay completely away. cover your nose and mouth with a mask, or simple tie a napkin so that ur breath doesnt reach ur baby, keep sanitizer on ur hands regularly. do this for 2-3 days to avoid baby getting cold. give ur baby to mom or husband more for few days.
Hi cutiepie66, I’m new to this forum. I’m a doctor. I felt like replying to your thread. Don’t stop breastfeeding, you cannot spread infections through breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not recommended only in exceptional cases where mother is infected with HIV, Hepatitis A, B, chicken pox etc. Since you have common cold & fever, you need not worry. Breast milk will not contain any infections, on the contrary it contains antibodies which will protect your baby. But cold can spread easily through sneezing or through infected hands. So be careful.
I know that infection will not spread via breastfeeding. I need suggestion for avoiding infection for my baby as I always stay close to baby.
Use herbal sanitizers like Himalaya hand sanitizers when ever you touch the baby. Go away from baby & sneeze. TC..
