It is situated 20 kilometers from Chandigarh. Pinjore is famous for its gardens which is a beautiful example of the terraced gardens of the Mughals. The Pinjore Gardens lie on the Ambala Simla road, near Kalka. It is planned by a Fidai Khan in the region of Jehangir. At present the garden belongs to Haryana to whose share it came, in1966 at the time of formation of the state. Haryana government has spent considerable sum of money on the improvement of the garden and buildings. The results has been quite breathtaking.

How do you celebrate this festival?

This festival is celebrated with utmost joy. I have never seen any festival being celebrated in this way.

The festival is beautifully themed with the flavor of the past centuries. The place is decorated as it was in the olden days with street bazaars and tented pavilions. The place got decked up with platforms, decorated gates and wonderful illuminations. Facilities like food plaza, shops and parking areas. The Mughal Gardens are designed aesthetically, which enhanced the beauty of the landscape. The architectural brilliances of the gardens and nearby structures looked as they have gone back to their golden days.Popular but decent cultural functions like Ghazals by eminent singers, Indian classical dances by famous danseuses, recital by eminent poets, dance ballets and last but not the least live rock show by a well known Indian rock band.

Do anyone know about the origin of this festival ?

One of the oldest yet well maintained Mughal Gardens of the world, Yadavindra Garden was the venue for the first ever Pinjore Heritage Festival. The festival was cerebrated with great enthusiasm and glory. The festival was organized to promote the rich cultural and historical tradition of the region. The Pinjore Heritage Festival in Pinjore, Haryana is an annual event to project the ancient Pinjore Town with its magnificent gardens and overall tourism potentiality.

My knowledge ragarding the origin of this festival is limited upto this only. Please add something more to it if possible.

The festival was aimed at projecting the ancient heritage of Pinjore town, 25 km from here, and the sprawling gardens built during the reign of emperor Aurangzeb by one of his generals.

When I visited there, The entrance and parking area were illuminated as well to enhance the pristine beauty of the gardens by highlighting its architectural, aesthetic and landscape splendour.

“The Anarkali Bazaar was a treat to watch and was specially crafted on the lines of the Mughal Gardens. It was a paradise for shoppers who thronged these beautiful gardens. Craftsmen from all over the country participated in the festival showcasing the finest of handloom and handicraft traditions.
Anchal Jain, an artist, had come from Ambala district to participate in the festival, said the spokesperson.
He also said that one painting on display had more than 180 shades of thread used in tandem to make a painting of Jesus Christ.

I had a really nice time there.

Popular but decent cultural functions like Ghazals by eminent singers, Indian classical dances by famous danseuses, recital by eminent poets, dance ballets and last but not the least live rock show by a well known Indian rock band. The total festival had the patronage and support of the state government, the Haryana Tourism Corporation and other prominent bodies. The festival was just the beginning of a story, which will be observed every coming year. Do not miss to join the festivities next time and be a part of the great effort.

A special feature of this cultural bonanza is the wide assortment of performances. Besides a bazaar reminiscent of the Mughal era it is created with shops and clusters of food stalls, tented pavilions and an amphitheatre that will host cultural performances.

When I had given a visit It was in Yadavindra Gardens. Exceptionally beautiful.

Designed on the same pattern as the famous Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir, the Yadavindra Gardens are spread out at seven levels on a descending scale. The complex comprises a central water channel, three principle terraces and palaces -- Sheesh Mahal, Rang Mahal and Jal Mahal -- along the central axis.

Did you ever pay a visit?

The Minister said the entire gardens, parking areas and entrance gate had been well illuminated in a manner that had enhanced the pristine glory of the gardens. The architectural, aesthetic and landscaped splendour of the gardens had been highlighted for attracting of the tourists. The main purpose behind organising the festival was to bring the grandeur of ancient heritage of these gardens to limelight, she added. She said the Festival would provide fun, frolic and shopping extravaganza. A street bazaar reminiscent of the Mughal times has been created with shops and clusters of food stalls, tented pavilions, amphi-theatre for cultural performances. ''The street bazaar showcases the handicraft and handloom traditions of India with craftpersons coming from different parts of the country. Similarly, variety of cuisine is available in the food courts and chefs from different parts of the country have gathered to toss up delicacies for the visitors,'' she said.
