Hard Time With My Supervisor

I think you have a idealistic view of how people need to respect you at the workplace because of your experience and expertise . You might be smarter than your manager but at the end of the day he is still your boss and I think this was understood when you took up the job. Ofcourse , I don't condone his behavior at all , it stems from his insecurities and you should document every single interaction with him.
I have been in a similar situation but I have been careful not to step on others toes and take a step back if necessary . Everyone likes to feel they are important at the workplace , so I try not to challenge anyone's capabilities if it is not detrimental to the work.
