    Associating raagams to colors; nice:)

    Bowli and Bhoopalam- bright yellow
    Abheri - pinkish red
    Vasantha - pale green
    Revathi - BhoSambo- violet
    Anandha Bhairavi and Reethigowla- orangish yellow
    Devagandhari -greenish blue
    Mayamalawagowla - deep green
    Sankarabaranam - pale pink
    Panthuvarali - red
    Shuba panthuvarali - white
    Nilambari - berry blue.

    .... and Kapi... mmmm... brown :)

    Will listen to more...

    Ah thanks for the link..it has so many of my favs. What a beautiful way to start the day!
    Here is another version from B.Jayashri....I love her voice..esp for such songs...


    Aww..we do think alike Vasantha is green and Shankarabharanam is some version of red (I know I know..lot more white in urs than in mine :) ):smilingimp:
    Nilambari is lavender for me.....associate it with putting my babies to sleep ..and that lavender baby wash and how they used to smell ...aww such lovely memories!

    Somehow I see Shiva adorned by pale pink roses.
    Kapi(coffee phonologically changed in Tamil) - hence brown.
    I always visualuze Sita in pale green everytime I sing Seethamma Maayamma...

    Its amazing how our mind works right...didnt spare DH too ..asked him yesterday..so what color comes to ur mind when u listen to some ragas.....he thought for a few min and said dont know about colors..but if I had to associate a ragam with u it would be Kalyani..fits u to a T. :kissingheart:....gives me another idea...if u had to associate a ragam with ur spouse or any person of ur choice..what would it be ?
    .Here is something to help u ponder on this very difficult problem on a monday morning.

    All the color discrimination on this thread is bothering me. Is no one moved to see in their mind's eye, ecru, wenge, heather, stone, sarcoline or coquelicot? Are these colors bereft of music or music denuded of a full spectrum?
