Hi everyone, I love seeing sarees, but am not a very avid fan of wearing them myself. I do love many of the designs and find it very hard to resist buying them. So I buy sarees I like and get them converted them into churidar or salwar suits. The other advantage I find in doing that is that the dress is very unique in design (print). Getting cloth cut out of a roll or buying materials is convenient, but often I find that the designs are pretty common and pretty often one finds someone wearing the same print somewhere else. Here I'd like to share one of the dresses I have had made out of a saree. I have used the pallu of the saree for the yoke. The border of the saree was used to line the dupatta which was bought separately. The embroidered flowers from the saree were used to scatter over the dupatta, the lower part (it is stitched in an umbrella cut) the sleeves of the kurta and the salwar to give it a get up. I find this dress very useful when going to parties for which it is dressy enough and occasionally even for a simple, elegant get up for going for wedding receptions.
