    Hello Friends,

I'm visiting India next month and I'm planning to buy a stone studded necklace set with earrings and tikka.

I'm in confusion to choose between uncut diamond and rubies combinaton set and plain rubies set. Please help me to choose one between both based on price and fashion and resale value .

I can afford 35-40 gms of gold on the set.

Please help me which will suits for all kind of sarees uncuts or plain rubies. I dont have any idea in stone studded jwl. All I have are the plain gold ones so far.

Im going to order next week please help me.

    Thanks,
    Siri.

My pick ...uncut .It has that antique look I absolutely love.
Look into temple jewellery you might find something you like.

Hi Siri, Hope u are aware that since last month or so Indian customs would be charging tax on any gold jewellery / item that's been brought into the country by NRIs. i dont remember exactly what is the % that will be charged..i think its close to 30%, so do check about this before u make your buy from here. If it turns out to be as costly as in India, u may as well have it purchased there than from here -- just my 2 cents :)

Go for uncut with ruby or emerald. It's unique.
    Plain ruby sets everyone has.

If you have collection of jewellery sets and like to add, more to your collection with uncut diamond and ruby set, it will be nice. If you don't have a separate ruby set in polished stone, my choice is bright red ruby necklace set. It looks absolutely beautiful with green/red dresses. Also, your age group/taste makes a big difference.

Considering the artificial/antique jewellery comes with the combination of uncut diamond/ruby set, I will be hesitant to invest in gold jewellery.

Hello Siri, Am not sure about the customs rule for old jewellery as the news article was about new jewellery only. Infact, i was also wondering where will the jewels that all of us wear during our abroad trip be accounted for?...no idea. Just incase, i happen to get that article on the net, will post it here for everyones benefit !

The resale value on the Uncuts is 80-85% based on which store you are going to buy. But if the uncut size is small, they will be broken while taking out and will be of no value. So choose a model which has a larger size of uncuts comparitively.
