    Communication have developed vastly .Decades ago Kings communicated through Doves.Messages are tied with the legs and it was delivered promptly.It was a miracle how the bird acted as a prompt postman .Then during British rule Post offices were opened and the practice of letter writing was introduced .To give fast messages Telegraph system was introduced which were transferred from one place to the other using code words by tapping the machines .
    Telephones were at post offices and if we want to send a message to a particular person the name and the address must be given and the postal department man go to their house and inform about the call .Immediately the person rush to post office and attend the call .This is called as PP CALL and this was in practice at small villages.Phonograms were used for wishing newly married couple and in this procedure too receiver’s address is mentioned .i remember greeting number 18 which is mostly used to wish the couple.i forgot the words.

    Then individuals had the Phone connection with the dialing system .Numbers are seen in a circle.we have to drag the numbers to the full circle .PP call naming a particular person or a lightning call to get connected quickly.In this system we had intercom ,chordless phone etc.etc.A base phone is connected to the telephone and we can have the hand set in any room which helped us much .Now come the Jee boomba Mobile phones which spread it’s wings far wide .First we used to contact others and then for playing games and finally for various applications .It has reached nook and corner of our country and communication made easily.

    As technology improved satellite phone is used to communicate people overseas too .Using whats app we have a group chat with friends ,wishes sent for birthdays,anniversaries and even they sent invitations.Amazing to see the development in communication technology .one more point is video call which give happiness seeing our dear and near ones who are so many thousand miles far away.

    Technology help us to a vast extent and bring the world very near .

    No doubt the world is within our fingers.But the thrill we recd on receiving a postcard after a gap of three or 4 months is totally lost.Rather the communication is too much to get depressed and one is inclined to cut off the connection even from the near ones sometimes.Alavukkuu minchinaal amritamum nanju.( Any thing in excess, even if it is nectar,may turn out to be poisonous.

    @periamma,

    Modern communication has virtually brought people closer but it has driven them apart physically. Nobody is interested anymore in meeting one another physically; it is considered a waste of time! I remember 25-30 years ago, contacting one another was such a hassle, we had to get out of our comfort zones to post letters, go to the Post Offices to send Telegram or to even make or receive a phone call. When I was betrothed, since we were in different cities, we would wait until night ten to make STD calls to each other at reduced rates, that too from a public booth in the presence of all and sundry, making everyone a party to our chat!!!! Uff! It used to be so embarrassing:facepalm:!
