California Driving License for H4 visa holders

Hi,

I am new to Bay area. I want to have a Driving license. I am H4 visa holder, dont have SSN. Is there any thing to do prior to applying for License? How can I get the stated ID?

Please help me in this.

I think , to apply for DL, you need to get SSN exemption letter from your local SSN office. In some states they will issue DL based on your ITIN . Call your local MVC office / Email them to clarify the matter.

If you plan to get the DL soon, then I don't think you need to get a State ID as DL will serve as your ID for all identification purposes.
