Part 2 25 years Ago… Sandhya was getting ready as Alok and his family was coming to meet her and her family. Sandhya has 2 sisters and 1 brother. They all are married and she is the youngest one in the family. So naturally she is very pampered by everyone. She has completed her graduation this year and now her parents found a suitable match for her. “Sandhya, let’s go. They have arrived.” Sandhya’s sisters came to take her. Alok was accompanied by his mother Sushila, elder brother Vinay and sister-in-law Deepa. Alok has one younger brother Sumit who was studying in college. Their father left them a few years back and after that Vinay and Alok left their college and started handling their family business. Deepa handled the household very well after her marriage and relieved Sushila. Sushila keeps herself busy with her grand-daughter Neha. All n all they are staying together as a happy joint family. And now they are eager to welcome another member of their family. Sandhya and Alok saw each other and smiled. Deepa started talking with Sandhya and asked her about her hobbies and education. Sandhya’s brother and parents also spoke with Alok. After some more formal and informal conversations, both families discussed and said yes. Alok and Sandhya looked happy and their families did a small ritual of Shagun. After 3 months Sandhya and Alok got married in a traditional ceremony in the presence of all their families, relatives and friends. Deepa helped Sandhya in adjusting in the new house. She patiently explained her all the customs and cultures followed, everyone’s likes and dislikes. In their courtship period, Alok and Sandhya never got a chance to meet. In those days, it was even hard to talk on landline phones. Just a few letters were exchanged where they told each other about their families, likes, and dislikes. Only after marriage, Sandhya started getting to know about Alok's nature. Alok takes care of every small thing for Sandhya. He loves her a lot and never let her feel alone. He always tries to make her feel special. Whenever she cooks anything, he always praises her and eats it with heart. Sandhya feels very nice and loved with all these gestures of Alok. She always feels confident, happy and protected being Alok around. She also reciprocates his love with her affection and takes care of him. Gradually Sandhya adapted the new environment and became an integral part of the family. After a year, Deepa delivered her second baby. Everyone was very happy and they named him Akshay. Sandhya took all the responsibilities and also took care of Deepa. Everyone was very delighted with the new arrival in the family. Sandhya helps Neha with her studies and projects as Deepa couldn’t get enough time and she also needs some rest. Neha builds a good relationship with her Sandhya Aunty at this time. Meanwhile, Sumit’s studies also got completed. He was the dearest one to Sushila. She asked him to join their family business along with their brothers. Sushila always pampers Sumit more as he is the youngest one. She is very much attached to him. She never scolds him and always tells her other sons also to do the same. Everyone in the family knew this. Sometimes Alok feels bad about it. He feels that his mother is biased. He is extrovert and straightforward. Whatever comes into his mind, he speaks it out. That’s why sometimes he gets caught into arguments with his mother or brothers. On the other hand, Vinay was quite. After his father’s death, he has taken all the responsibilities of family and business and that made him mature at an early age. Being the eldest son, he always wants the family to be together and happy. Neha and Akshay were growing up with time. All three brothers were working hard and flourishing their business. They opened another shop and spreading the work. Alok takes care of all the buying of the materials as his communication skills helps him to deal with suppliers. He has to travel a lot for all this. Vinay and Sumit handle the shop locally. In the whole city, their shop has turned a brand name. Three years passed and Sandhya and Alok were also trying to start their family. Few more months passed but still, there were no results. Relatives, neighbors all started asking about good news to Sandhya. Whoever comes home, they ask Sushila about Sandhya. Few people even started giving suggestions and pieces of advice to try different things. Sandhya started getting worried and one night she spoke to Alok, “I think we should see a doctor. We were trying from quite some time now. People also started talking. I feel really bad. I am eagerly waiting to become a mother.” Her voice started breaking. Alok held her hand affectionately and said, “Hey don’t worry, everything will be fine. We will go to see a doctor. But keep one thing in mind. Don’t get affected by what people are talking. Their work is to talk and give advice. You need not pay attention to all that. Ok?” Sandhya nodded her head but still, her mind is not at peace. She was hoping that everything will be fine after seeing a doctor.

@muggs, Adoption by the childless couples is a complicated process mentally, physically and emotionally. The parents and the children go through a tough emotional journey. Hope you weave a sensitive and convincing story bringing out a positive message. Good luck.
