It all started that day when I saw you waiting by the window. I shared a Marie biscuit then, Saw you hesitate, pick it and go. The next day, I was surprised to See you again by that time there. Was that you or someone else? I offered rice then behaving fair. Then I was not around for a few Days and wondered what you did. Relieved I was, when I saw you Again and shared a bit more food. One day I wanted to tease you a bit, By not offering anything as you came. You waited for long and yelled a bit. I ignored then, but later felt ashamed. I promptly waited for you the next day, Thankfully, you came by my way. To my surprise, you called in a low voice. Amused was I to know your poise. There is something that goes beyond What animals and birds can understand. The solace they bring stands among The best in one's life, short or long. I don't see you as just a crow now. Don't expect you to understand that. Perhaps there starts a bit of love. I don't know. But this sure feels good.
Nice poem . We do create a bond with any animal or bird we feed regularly , it can be a crow, a pigeon , squirrel , stray cat or dog . And as you have mentioned , when they dont appear on time , we do worry about them ! Keeping rice for crows before we eat eveyday is a tradition . The crow also becomes accustomed to it and also fearless of humans .
Call it coincidental, PavithraS. I never connected these two until reading your feedback. Thanks for your like too. -rgs
Yes, you are right SCSusila. Our earlier generations did maintain a pretty good ecosystem where they took care of other things and perused things just at the required level. Lack of money and comfort could also be the reason but, even the poor were generous to others [animals, birds, poorer folks] when possible. While I am not blaming those who seek comfort and pleasure, it will be great if we too care for others more. Thanks for your feedback. Happy to receive a first from you. -rgs
