    Thanjavur Ranganayaki Rajayee popularly known by her screen name T. R. Rajakumari was a Tamil film actress, Carnatic singer and dancer. She has been called the first "dream girl" of Tamil cinema.

    Rajayee made her film debut as "T. R. Rajakumari" in the 1939 Tamil film Kumara Kulothungan which was an average grosser. Her second film Kacha Devayani (1941) was a hit and helped launch her career in movies. There is some confusion about in which film she actually made her debut as Kacha Devayani's director K. Subramaniam later insisted that he was the one who introduced her to films. In 1944, Rajakumari starred in the record-breaking film Haridas alongside M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar and gained recognition for her glamorous portrayal.

    Devika or Prameela Devi was a popular Tamil and Telugu actress. She is regarded as a versatile and graceful heroine of her era. She was known for her natural beauty which was the key in her casting in mythological films like Karnan, thiruvilaiyadal. Her notable films are Sumaithangi, Nenjil oru Aalayam and Marakka Mudiyuma. She is grand daughter of Raghupathi Venkaiah.

    Premila changed her name as Devika, which proved to be lucky, and made her debut in Mudhalali With the big Tilak adorning her forehead; Devika represented the quintessential Indian woman, caring, self effacing and sacrificing. Sivaji and Devika figured in some memorable movies like Karnan, that powerful mythological, and the hilarious Bale Pandiya and Kulamagal Radhai among the best. Her looks in fact made her the ideal choice for producers of historical and mythological films.

    Madhavi ruled the silver screens for 17 solid years with her immense presence in several Indian languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and not to mention Hindi will be arriving at Adoni from the USA for the foundation stone laying ceremony of an old age home at Adoni in Kurnool district, according to her parents. Very few people know that Madhavi, who once ruled the tinsel world, was born at this town.

    The actress, who said goodbye to films after Matrudevobhava, left for the US, marrying a businessman in 1995. Now, she has come forward to build an old age home in the name of their family’s spiritual guru Sri Swamirama. Madhavi’s real name was Vijayalakshmi. It was Dasari Narayana Rao who changed the name as Madhavi. So far she acted in more than 300 films

    thanks for ur sharing.Its realy very intresting to see these B&W ladies.Sowagr janaki had acted in THILUMULLU movie with Rajni Her acting was superb in that.For saroja devi on those days in AVM studio they had a statue like her.For every costume they wore it to that statue to check the fittings.Then only she wear thatIt was told by her in coffee with anu program
