    I know DH stands for Dear Husband, but what is BH asks a member in the Relationships forum.

    What do I say? DH sounds too tame and staid for me. (Till another member quips that she prefers DH for dumb husband). But by nature I am fair. This probably stems from the fact that I am a Libran (by the Indian calendar) and am always trying to find the perfect balance. So much as I am often in a mood for some husband bashing, I am also always ready to concede that he has probably his own reasons to indulge in wife bashing and would like to have some level ground. So I thought one would like to have an acronym which is gender neutral. So DH/DW was changed to BH.

    Now here are the variable possibilities that this acronym lends itself to. It is probably more flexible than the individuals concerned themselves.

    The most obvious ones would be:

    BH = Better Half / Bitter Half

    Other interpretations could be:

    BH = Beloved Husband (so sweet)
    BH = Bhondoo Husband (a term of endearment for that sweet, innocent, clueless husband who can be twisted around the little finger)
    BH = Bully Husband / Biting Husband (when he keeps snapping)
    BH = Bellowing Husband (keeps shouting all the time)
    BH = Battered / Battering Husband (as the case may be)
    BH = Bad Husband
    BH = Baby Husband (in cases of people who wish to give Shah Jahan a run for his money OR it could also be used to describe a husband who is still tied to the palloo of his dear mother)
    BH = Bank Husband (in cases where he is the earning member and the wife the spending member)
    BH = Blinking Husband (those clueless ones who stand and stare when expected to do anything productive)
    BH = Blind Husband (can't find anything, needs to have everything given to him in his hands; another interpretation is blind to the faults of his DM and DS)
    BH = Bungling Husband (those who can never do anything right)
    BH = Blameless Husband (the perfect sons of the perfect mils who can do no wrong - the desi description "ma ka laal" does this more justice)
    BH = Batty Husband
    BH = Borrowed Husband (those who spend more time with their dear parents and condescend to spend a few minutes a year with their wives). BTW, this reminds me of a statement in "Good wives" by Louisa May Alcott where the daughter (Meg if I remember right) gets married and is then surrounded by all her sisters and mother who are all fawning over her. Her husband comes over and asks "May I please borrow my wife ...")
    BH = Blessed Husband (He has you for a wife after all!)
    BH = Backward Husband (Husband stuck mentally in the 17th century)
    BH = The Blue-Eyed Boy Husband (Initial years of marriage )
    BH = Blooming Husband (when you are exasperated with him)

    Of course there would be more colourful interpretations for the letter B, but they would not bear repetition over here; besides I guess most disgruntled wives would be content to stop at this list without going any further! What say girls?

    Of course, like I said this term can safely be used in a very gender neutral manner by turning H from husband to half.

    Ooops!!! I just realized that my post giving an exhaustive list of possibilities appeared on Page 420 of that thread in the Relationships forum. :hide: :bonk

    Dear Satchi,

    That was one hilarious list! :rotfl

    Guess if I refer my hubby as BH, it could stand for one of these:

    BH = Beloved Husband (so sweet)
    BH = Blinking Husband (those clueless ones who stand and stare when expected to do anything productive) :bonk
    BH = Blind Husband (can't find anything, needs to have everything given to him in his hands) :bang
    BH = Blessed Husband (He has you for a wife after all!) - :exactly:

    BH = The Blue-Eyed Boy Husband (Initial years of marriage )
    Since I am still in the initial years of marriage, not sure what this means!? Care to enlighten me?? :hide:

    Satchi DH? can stand for dastardly husband, damned husband, dirty husband,, doubtful husband and BU for boring husband, burddensome husband, and what not. EH is better. I am not (yet) able to find anything negative about it.
