    Ladies,

This may not be a real problem but out of curiosity i want to ask if more than two medium-sized bananas a day for a 3 yr and 3 mth old child is ok? Yes, my kid is underweight abt 12 kg. Lately, he has started loving bananas and eats more than 2, sometimes 4 a day. Is it healthy for him? He has runny nose (not always) since he started eating bananas.

    Please pour your opinions friends.

@anila sometimes banana causes runny nose/cold for people with isnophealia. So if it is there in his genes then limiting the bananas would be better.

Too much of anything is not good.I will always prefer to give one banana a day.Why can't you try giving him some other fruits that he likes to have?

    Ramya, Anisu, Hemalatha,

    Thanks for your replies.

He eats everything. If i give him other fruits he will eat that also, along with bananas....Some days ago he had got diarrhea and now completely resolved but after diarrhea he eats like anything. I will try to limit it to one a day...I am also trying to give him other foods in between.

    Hi Anila,'
Try giving banana in the form of milk shakes and slowly introduce other milk shakes too. Though banana is good 4 per day for a kid is certainly not healthy

Anything in Moderation should be Fine. I feel two bananas for a 3 year old is too much. Try giving one Apple instead of the second One.

    hi anila
it's ok for a 3 yr old to have 2 bananas a day, especially on an empty stomach.Ihave seen many kids develop aversion to bananas at a young age and be happy that he enjoys it. I feel happy that someone is there like me too. for putting on weight give egg everyday in the morning with luke warm milk.

    Hi all,

Visasri, yes i give him shakes but he rarely drinks. He mostly likes juices so i give him orange juice now.

Girijam, havent heard of chakrakeli.... but thanx for information.

Brahan and mathangi, he has turned to watermelon, apples, and oranges now....I do give him a boiled egg, not with milk but egg salad

    Thanks to all ladies...
