    Dear Ilites,

This question has been pestering me for a long time. What really fascinates us in an individual? I have two scenarios under this topic:

    1) The individuals around us with whom we talk and spend time.
    2) The popular individuals whom we have not moved personally or not seen them face to face. For example celebrities from all fields.

All of us know that our subconscious mind is honest and truthful. I feel, a liking for a person generally develops based on the observations made by our subconscious mind. If you go for in depth observation our subconscious mind does not get attracted by physical appearance. It searches for good virtues in people. So it is obvious that our subconscious mind never allows us to mingle with any people with bad thoughts. It keeps on warning us even when we try to talk with them and restricts us from getting close.

Isn't it great that God had kept our subconscious mind pure and watchful?

When we come to the second type of individuals, it is known fact that we have not moved with them personally still we get attracted. How? Its true you get attracted first with physical appearance. There is nothing to hide here. We follow them in newspapers and media. Here again the truth is, we get attracted to them thinking that they would be good human beings. Our subconscious mind gauge them with the news that come come about them in media. Yes, it judges with their physical mannerism like how they present themselves in public, the way they dress, their sense of humor etc.

So, it is important to realize that why we get attracted to people. At the same time, it is also important to realize that why we do not like a person.

Lastly, it is very very very important to self-introspect and understand how we think, how we behave with others, how we speak ill of others and how we can keep our thoughts pure.

Besides our day-to-day activities, whatever we do extra (involving our thought, speech and action) we need to do a self-introspection before engaging in it. If each one of us can practice this how peaceful our lives would be? How peaceful our country would be?

Is this task easy or hard? Now pen your thoughts that originate from your subconscious minds. When I say your subconscious mind, you cannot write what you generally feel, you need to write it from your subconscious mind and after self-introspection :thumbsup.

Of course, all of us are attracted by popular persons. Some,go to the extent of worshiping them and some even neglect their duties towards their family because of this.

But,this is short lived.I think we are attracted towards others if they possess some qualities which we don't.Opposite poles attract.

Even in Mahabharatha, when we see Karnan and Duryodhana,Karna was a selfless giver while Duryodhana didn't want to give a piece of land to his own cousins. But,there was friend ship between them.

Leaving Epics,in our day to day life ,many of us are attracted to our spouse. Not because of physical reasons, but because of their love and care for us.
    All inner qualities.

Didn't we have some crush on cine actors or cricketers in our teenage? That's different.

As you pointed out ,I usually judge people with my instincts. It never failed.

    Generally,

1.There is some goodness in each and every people.

2.Individual persons tend to change over time.

Any attraction remains strong only when we are in contact with them.

    Hello Vanaja
Wow da after such a long time you are back. It is really nice to see you here....hope you don't disappear again :)
You are right our subconscious mind is honest and truthful. It has happened many a time to me that a person is with me day in and out, I know everything about that person, but still there is something that keeps me away from that person and some thing always cautions me about it. Sometime you meet an individual just for the 1st time and you are suddenly get attracted to that person even if you don't know that person fully well.
About these popular individuals yes we get attracted to them becoz of the look and the work that they do.
I mostly get attracted to a person not by they look but they simplicity manner, how they behave, humorous personality.

    Dear Vanajaji,

    Happy New Year to you!

It is clear that you have written from experience and wisdom that age brings...This thought has occupied my mind too. I am very careful these days as to how the words come out of my mouth. Being impulsive by nature, I tend to say what I feel so long as it does not hurt the person I am talking to. But in spite of it, there is a good possibility that some people make it a point to interpret words according to their own views! No escaping..

Yes, our sub conscious often tell us whom to choose and whom to letcloser to you. But sometimes, we can be wrong there. One needs a lot of experience and wisdom and not least, a big portion of luck!!

As to public figures, it is only looks and their demeanor and body language that can sort of influence our opionions about them. But all that can be misleading too...See, I am skeptical!!

Well, the only option left to us mortals is place our faith in Him and hope for the best!:)

    L, Kamla

very nice write up. Yes, as kamla pointed out, sometimes we may go wrong. The person who looks so hard in their outer appearance may turn out to be a soft & kind one which we will come to know only after interacting with them (like a ripen jackfruit!). Many a time our human mind makes an error on this point. But many a times our instincts turn out to be true also. (bravo! subconscious mind :clap )

During school days our language teacher always gives a bit of moral doses at the end of the period and she was an excellent guide to the teens and her words got registered in my subconscious mind. She used to emphasis on this judging the person and giving tips on the same like how my mother used to do right from my childhood. My mother and my language teacher has left many good inspirations on me.
Both angel and devil qualities are present in us. It is upto us to listen to whom [IMG] and many a times the [IMG] gets naughty and mischief while the angel becomes matured, sits silently with a 'caution' board in our subconscious mind (empty vessel makes more noise?!) . I can feel the naughty thief with a sparkling eyes laughing at me reading my post (as if saying : "If you miss me you miss the fun in life too") :rotfl

Well said! It is true that opposite poles attract each other. When it comes to spouse, we all generally only look for only good qualities in them. It is natural and no doubt with it. So, basically all human beings only seek for good things. But, why there are lots of mishaps? A big question?

The point lies here. When we seek goodness from others we also should impart goodness to others. This is where people tend to fail and earn bad name.

    Dear Kamla,

Thanks for the wishes and wish you too a Happy New Year.

I have not crossed 40, so am I aged Kamla? Still these thoughts generally come over as we start doing self introspection. Not just very careful, we have to be very very very very very careful when we speak to others these days. Because relationships are becoming very fragile these days. It is true that others might interpret things differently. Let us not bother too much about them. Truth has value and would save us.

Though you need luck, it is safe if we do self-introspection. At least our minds would be peaceful that we have done some good things. Physical appearance to some extent represents the qualities. Even I am skeptical about it, as we no way can read the subconscious minds of others.

Well said! Only He can guide us. Thanks for coming in.

    Thanks for the comments Mira.

You know one thing, whatever impacts our subconscious mind in one "Janma" (Birth) gets embedded very deep into it and continues in other janmas. We take different forms in different births but our subconscious mind remains the same. Note the point that we may also take birth as an animal. We can understand this concept very well through the Vijay TV program "MunJanmam" (Pre-births). So good things, bad things, pains in life etc get into our subconscious mind. To erase the bad thoughts and pain we went through, we need an external force. That's why people seek meditation and spiritual endeavors.

On reading your comment here I too recollected my teacher's advises a lot. Your light note was good yet meaningful. Thanks for coming in.

Thanks for your views on my post.

I think there are two answers for your question.

    Prejudice and expectations.

Generally, whenever share a relation ship with people,we have some expectations. It's human nature and we cannot avoid them. When they fail to meet our expectations ,there arises difference in opinion, accusations, fights, tears ,curses and finally resentment and hatred.:confused2:

Sometimes,we misjudge people. From the way they dress, they speak, their general behaviour we classify them as pompous, modern, kind, arrogant, selfish, loving, gentle, rude etc.

The truth is all the qualities are inside a person.Genes, environment, society, the problems they face ,health ,occupation,family-----all decides which quality surfaces which time.

Leaving all this there is another quality.Jealous.In this materialistic world,I cannot even point who is jealous of whom. This also plays a major role nowadays.

Often I wonder,in a family if there is a monetary progress like buying their own house or a promotion or buying a car or jewellery, the parents of the wife are really happy. But,the husband's parents, particularly his mother is not happy. The general dialogue is "What for us?They are buying and they are keeping.".

I think this is out of jealousy and competition.
