A dwarf stands tall!

Dear Latha,
We had two children of this type in my sister-in-law's house.One child could not move.Due to lack of exercise she became too plumpy.It was very difficult to lift the child from the wheel chair to toilet seat.The blood pressure shot up abnormally and she had to be admitted for blood transfusion very often.The father's career was lost.The brother of the girl who was very smart could not get high marks in plus two since he too was always worried about his sister.

But the child attained age at 12.The mother found it difficult to dress her up during 'those' days which the girl never realised.We could notice the sensuous feelings the girl had when she saw some person of the opposite sex.There were occasions when the parents had to be away for a day or two out of necessity.The gynocologists advised surgery for the girl after she became 18.But God was kind enough to take the baby away from this earth when pressure was too high and resulted in stroke and instantaneous death.It was March 14th and the brother's board exam s were on.It is sad that it affects one and all in the family.When the child improves and comes up in life,all the sacrifices attain some meaning.Other wise this is tolerated as the karma pala of either the child or the parent.

omg today i came across this thread and jayasala ma'am this was both an inspiration and also very depressing to hear about other such stories. i m really feeling so bad for the parents and hats off to all such parents..
i agree your statement "When the child improves and comes up in life,all the sacrifices attain some meaning.Other wise this is tolerated as the karma pala of either the child or the parent." but if not than really i feel that is all karma part.
i will really confess that whenever i see such child anywhere i never look down or feel make gestures of feeling pity on them .i know this increases the embarrassment or shy feeling both in them and in parents as well...instead i give a big smile to make them happy and makes me happy for not letting them feel bad of what they are suffering thru.
i see many people inquiring how/when/why and all that happened, my anger level increases as why they are giving them more pain with all this. what IQ will they increase by all this....sick people...

Hmm. Maybe .We say Runanu Bandham in Telugu , means we indebted to that person in past life so that person born again to fulfill that debt.True it is very pain and difficult to see and do all the stuff to that boy (12 years old).He can't do anything for himself.whenever I go India for vacation I visit their place always and spend sometime with them.His Parents are very affectionate to that boy and taking care of him with wholeheartedly.kneesmiley to them .

Dear Latha, thanks for the response.It is very difficult to see this for a few days.How painful mentally and physically to look after 'ever dependent children continuously for years! Those mothers are no less than Gods.

Dear Twinling Star,
I appreciate your outlook.The children suffer, for unknown mistakes stated to have been committed in previous births.Parents and the entire family also are put to lot of difficulties.We are unable to help but to express our sympathy or do our might within our reach.We have to pray that God would do what is good for them..

Let us travel back to 1980s.

The child hated school.She was teased mercilessly by other children when she was young. .The girl didn't want to leave her mother's lap.The child was a born dwarf.Her legs were plastered from thigh to toe.The poor mother carried the child to school,remained under a tree till 12 and bring back the baby.The wailing of the child heard at a distance froze her mother.

The child could sing well. But she was not allowed to participate in competition because of her form.But the mother stood firm, the child won.

Every stage the child faced scornful contemptual ridiculous looks.Other students stared at her and mocked at her stature."The man marrying her should lift her,keep her under his waist to tie the sacred knot'was the remark even passed by the teachers.On every occasion she was looked down upon and she had to rise with courage to prove her capabilities.

When she underwent a major surgery, doctors never thought that the child would survive.Her stay in the hospital in such a young age planted the seed of determination to take up medical profession.

Inspite of the scornful mockery thrown at her she took it as a challenge.She came out with flying colours in the school final and entrance exams.It was simply amazing to see a dwarf becoming a dentist.The head of the dental college hesitated to admit her and hesitated that she might not be able to perform dental surgery .She fought with courage and gave a declaration that she could be dismissed if she was found unfit.But she was the winner.After completing internship and performing many dental surgeries more efficiently than the normal doctors she graduated as a dentist from Govt College Trivandrum.

The disappointments never left her.Senior doctors considered it below their dignity to have a dwarf doctor in their clinic.She worked as a lecturer in a dental college with a poor pay packet.

She started looking for other avenues.The fast developing information technology under Health Care embraced her.

Her job was to coordinate between doctors abroad and the engineers in India who developed software. Initially, she again faced rejection from the engineers working with her who tried to put her down every chance they got. She fought back and won them over. She took an MBA degree in Healthcare & Hospital Administration. She was able to prove them wrong and was able to perform on par or even better than her peers at work. After a few years, she had become the most respected and loved person in the organization.

She now keeps herself up-to-date in the IT field, besides keeping abreast with developments in the medical field, by keeping in touch with her peers and through other media.She can travel abroad alone and is able to manage her chores with great efficiency.

Music is her passion. She has also given a few Carnatic music concerts and wants to delve deep in this field too.

The little girl that struggled at every stage is Dr.Lakshmipradha Srinivasan.She would have become a timid and useless woman, incapable of facing life, had not her parents provided her with an encouraging and healthy environment. They taught her to rely on her strengths and totally ignore her physical deformity. The honesty, self-confidence and resilience have moulded her into what she is.

The insults and denials have moulded her into a wholesome personality, that cannot be attained even by normal individuals.A dwarf really stand tall!.

Let her be a source of inspiration to many other Lakshmi Pradhas who face similar problems .Let us greet such great women on this International Women's Day.
