Re: Fresh Indian veggies in Melbourne

    Hi ladies,

We usually go to Springvale market where we can get most of the Indian veggies. In Dande market can get karela and raddish regularly, Sometimes bindi as well.

    Visiting Melbourne

    Dear Forum members

We (Me and my hubby)would be travelling to Australia on the 21 st of Dec and would return on the 15th of Jan 09.

We would be staying in Melbourne (in Tribeca Serviced Apartments
9C / 166 Albert Street ,East Melbourne Victoria 3002).I was wondering if anyone could help us with the following queries.

1.I know its summer but having seen the UK summers ,we want to know how the summers in Aus are.

2.What kind of clothes to pack.

    3.Places of attraction to visit.

4.Best way to get to and visit Sydney.

5.Best places to shop in Melbourne (anything unique to Australia that I cant buy here).

Any other relevant information to a first time visitor to Australia would be helpful.Kindly email it pritidr@yahoo.com since I sort of lose track of the threads here.

    Regards

    Priti

    Re: Visiting Melbourne

    Hey Priti,

I dont think you should be putting out your address on any forum. You never know who may read the info.

Coming to your questions, I know that the summers are really hot here in Australia. Especially the days that you would be coming. That's not to say that there can suddenly be some rain and it can also get a bit chilly.

Do get your normal clothes, no need for any coats or anything. It depends on your budget with regards to going to Sydney. You can drive down from Melbourne or take a train or a flight. In the end again it depends on how much money you are ready to shell out.

Go to the site www.immi.gov.au It should have some interesting things to consider. Also you can go to www.australianexplorer.com to see the places you can visit.

    Cheers,

    Riya

    Re: Moving to Melbourne

Hi I am new to this forum, just discovered today. Great forum with great topics.

We are currently in Mumbai, India. We have 2 children, elder one-7 years & younger - 6 months.

Me and my family are moving to Melbourne in the first week of Feb. 2009. We are on a 457 long stay business visa, as my husband has been transferred to his melbourne office. His office is in Hallam, where as he would often have to travel to CBD on business. Hence we would like to stay somewhere which is midway between CBD & Hallam.

We have identified the following areas to look for a rental house:
Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Ringwood, Oakleigh, Berwick, Narre Warren, Doveton, Endeavour Heights etc.

    Can someone tell us about:

Are the above areas good localities to stay?
Are these localities where you can find Indian families?
In which area we can find the best government school ?
We are also not averse to put our child in a catholic school? which is the best catholic school in the above areas?
Which are the other areas we should shortlist for the house?

    Thanks to all

    SOJO
