Everyone is entitled to their way of life. But when we live in the society, we make efforts to be inclusive not come off as a ****
My husband doesn't drink but he goes with friends and drinks juice soda or water. Because they are not there for the alcohol but have a good time catching up.

Seems like a real piece of old world male ego filled brat.
That's what I try to do but those are the interactions where he makes these remarks often.

This is a brand new school. Our kids started in the foundation batch hence the discussion. Which is why he came off arrogant and pushy. The school had a trend to set and in my opinion as well as most others at the table, they did a great job.

My argument was people make extra efforts most of the times cleaner, healthier and using high quality ingredients when they make food for bake sale. And more importantly this is not for sharing. The people buying have a choice. They can ask questions about ingredients in case of allergies. Those who don't like eating food made by others need not buy. But bake sales are so popular they raise money for school, give a break to the parents who can buy something and hang out with others instead of going home and making snacks for kids. This particular time I was in favour of saving the money instead of buying food, buy something else that school needed more. The ones who don't like eating food made by others would bring their own anyway. Those who are happy to have it will enjoy. And we get them something that will last longer than few hours.

I feel like there are hundreds of topics we could talk about when talking to a person from different background instead of one thing that is specifically about their culture in a negative way. I feel nauseated with the smell of fish unlike my entire family who love them. And I lived in the coastal region for some time very close to fishermen. They were the most loving warm people. We never had to talk good or bad about the fish smell. As the popular saying goes when you don't have anything nice to say shut up.
