    @Viswamitra sir,
    I agree with all the points you have mentioned .
    Yes we can't judge ,we shouldn't generalize ,kids in India also abandon parents , kids are also abandoned by parents - every point is true and spot on.

    One has to chalk it ("the status") down for hypocrisy. And the person has to live with that. Or.. , as you rightly point out "for reasons better known only to him"
    Perhaps, the NRI may has a different audience to foist that father's day habit. His own children.
    Facebook or other social media posturing is pablum for acquaintances, and long lost school-mates/friends. Not meant for A's who may know K's inside out.

    Honestly, I don't mind celebrating these special days. No matter how grateful we are to our parents, siblings, better halves, children, friends, etc., it is impossible to express our gratitude in routine life. I don't see any harm by baking a small cake for my mom, or buying a tie for my dad, or giving a manicure to my sister just to make them feel special and loved.

    my cousin's parents are old and they live in this place in india by choice.

    Retirement Homes | Senior citizen Living Homes - Nana Nani Homes

    they love it and they do not even want to visit usa. cousins are very well off in usa. they take care of expenses.

    Peer pressure?
    True. A shouldn't judge K.

    A is brutally honest in expressing the thoughts which just passed in her mind.

    Have you not heard ? USA isn't a desirable visit location. It is a dangerous, horrible place, and the NRI who live there get hardship allowance (the extra money they get for being there) over what they could earn in India. If you start a forum thread for what is wrong, those who live there could post a whole litany of things. Let me start:
    • No pani-puri cart-wallah in the street, even in big cities.

    And that's why I love your responses.

    Who has that talent to divert the thread which is going on in a serious tone to a hilarious one. ?

    It is a "hissing(sic!) contest", if one were to use the proper local vernacular language.
