Yes, indeed. I like matters of the heart and brain a wee bit more than the modus operandi of someone messing with the members of day-trading mailing list.

Be that as it may, day traders would surely recognize that whatever is "high in daily volume" is obviously rife for arbitrage. What is high in daily volume for the ladies in I"L" are matters of the heart/brain. When you consider that you "cannot take it with you", isn't it time for the seniors to come out and play/respond in threads that does not involve any money making ?

You must post an essay on the topic of "what's the point of it all". Cheerio.

    My dear Thyagu
Thanks a lot for marking your mail to me.
I have never gone anywhere near Stock Market in my life. I belong to the school of thought that emphasizes that the mind that rests in peace with what it has is the true alchemy. ( போதும் என்ற மனமே பொன் செய்யும் மருந்து)
Thanks a lot for remembering me.

That is sweet. The kind of gene/personality that we need many impressions of before they break that mold.
I belong to the school that promotes the (Tamil) aphorism "Go ahead and learn thievery, so as to eschew that".
Talking up/down specific securities/stocks in newsletters in order to profit from it is a form of securities fraud in markets that are well regulated. [I am not all that up on what goes on in Dalal St.] source:Securities fraud - Wikipedia

    Dear Sri Thyagarajan:

I don't trade stock in the market either. It is unfortunate that the stock market is infested with greedy brokers. All the investor protection laws are made only to address this category of brokers. In a buyer beware market, people make multiple inquiries before making any investment whereas the stock market is the only place where people are very vulnerable. Perhaps, the stock brokers touch a nerve (greedy) in them making them susceptible to their modus operandi. How else one can explain Bernie Madoff's ripping of so many innocent international retirees?

this is a good post. It helps to watch for such cheating traders who cheat hard working people.

I disagree with members who said they are not in stock market. Any member who is working and has 401k is directly or indirectly dealing with stock markets.

    @lavani,

I didn't say Sri Thyagarajan's snippet is bad. I welcome all his snippets. :) Any amount of warning to the investors are always welcome. That is why the regulations exist. Dealing in stock market or not is individual decision of each investor. Investing through professional managers and investing directly in the market are two distinctly separate actions. Portfolio allocation considering the risk an investor is willing to take using Monte Carlo simulation is a more scientific method than the investors directly investing based on their own analysis or reading the recommendations of the experts.

:hello:I ought have recorded my thanks here for a lone supporter of this post stating 401k. Sorry I failed to note this response.
    2. My idea of this post was to keep the any IL member dealing in stocks to be aware of cheating in a big way, Perpetrated by brokers & their benami In Indian stock market especially NSE/BSE. Many get hooked to it by high pressure ads but without knowing nitty gritties young people drawn into this gambling and remain life long wedded to it to take out lost monies.

My friend won big money, but it was only once on the irish syndicate.casino online site. I think this is an accident and such winnings are rare. I think you need to work hard to have a lot of money.

I worked in a company whose Chairman was the President of the Bombay Stock Exchange. He had a share trading firm also which is still there being run by the third generation. Our company's share was floating high, though not the company's economic health because he knew how to decorate the balance Sheet.
The fact is that while share brokers make money not only by way of commissions but by investing their own money as some of them access to the boardroom decisions and do inside trading. The companies too indulge in artificially lifting the value of their stock when they want to sell and downing it when they want to buy.
All in all, it is a Satta (Betting) and gains and losses are two sides of the same coin. A little bit of knowledge, a little bit of trends and a whole lot of luck and there you a winner in the stock market.
The best option for individuals is Mutual Funds with medium risk.
