Chitra, Please let us know where you got kalchatti in Chennai. Suguna, I'l surey check out Zambazaar(Pycrofts Road) and let you know soon.
Madurai Pudhu Mandapam and Srirangam koil entry are the places where I used to buy the Kalchatti. Ideal one to keep Pazhaya sadham, Vaththal kuzhambu etc. Still ppl are there like me using kalchatti's.
Hi Elza, Cindhu and all I bought few kalchattis in DakshinChitra some years back. I find the kalchattis only in exhibitions. Apart from that I have seen them in Madurai and Sreerangam temples. I bought them at DakshinChitra and gifted to my mom...she was very happy and I would not have seen that smile even if I had gifted her a silk saree . She uses them for storing curd, vatha kuzhambu, thogayal etc. My mom also uses man-panai (clay pot) for making keerai ...and it tastes heavenly.
Hi Ramya, thanks for the info..never thought that dakshin chitra could have those..will try them when we go there..thanks again :thumbsup
Helloooo I recently bought a Kalchatti in Mylapore. It is available in a shop adjacent to the Kapaleeswarar temple, opposite to the Vummidi jewellers and other shops on the main Tank road. They actually sell gift items and puja articles and had these kalchattis in different shapes and sizes on display. I was so elated to find them there !!! Hope this helps someone. P.s: I'll get the shop name next time I go there, which should be soon
