Nice thread. School is reopening and need to plan menus properly.

@kkrish I was surprised how you have described all the steps in detail. Was thinking about you this morning when juggling cooking. To put all steps into words not easy.

my meal prep over the weekend is usually making paneer, making dosa, idli batter for a month's worth and freezing it or making atta for rotis for at least 15 days and freezing it. I also make other stuff for freezing :
    khus khus paste
    Tamarind paste
    ginger chilli paste

Bulk freezing happens as needed ,when I finish my dosa batter or atta or other stuff.

cut any vegetables for freezing like bottle gourd ,ridge guard as they tend to spoil quickly ,so I freeze these if I don't plan to use it within 2,3 days and can later use this in Sambhar ,dal and gravies

i freeze in portion sizes ,so u take a days worth at a time , helps tremendously for dinners and breakfast.

make ginger, garlic, turmeric paste for the week.

sprouting green moong dal , use it for pesarattu or making a curry

make chutney for at least 3 days on the weekend.

use pressure cooker a lot, like if I have to boil dal , I make sure I at least boil more dal or dals using seperators and store for another meal or two.

have Mondays cooking done by Sunday.

I also use the food processor heavily , it will cut down prep time

Wow...... I feel about an inch tall, a very small limp inch like a tiny, wilted okra that many rejected in the basket at the grocery store. : )

Very inspiring to read the level of organization, and meal plans, and such healthy ones. I've done this about 4-5 times over the years in bursts of enthusiasm. But even the few ideas I pick and follow from this thread or the Time Management have made life so much easier. Like, freezing g-g paste. Knew the idea but didn't think freezing would be "fresh" or flavorful. Once I read kkrish recommends freezing, all the associated guilt went away. Now, it is stored in nice small jars, and better-half is trained enough to take out one from freezer when current one is nearing empty. To not stand gazing at onion in the pan ready for g-g paste, but no paste in bottle.. priceless.

Hoping to do better with the kids. And can claim some small achievement there. Both can cook their favorite dishes sufficiently well, and to a level that dad can't tell if I made it or a kid. : ) I prefer to look at the complimentary side of that. : )

Whatever works for you @SaiNiharika .
I have never cut Okra the night before, so I do not know. If you have done it before, and it works well, maybe I will try it next time.
Will cucumber not give out water when cut? Is that why you cut it early? I've never cut cukes early either.

    @Laks09
It was I who was amazed at the variety of meals you have.
Wow lady! :worship2:I think you will not repeat a menu for a whole month.
Also young mothers will benefit a lot from your variety; I know how difficult it used to be feeding my boys who seemed to have bottomless pits for their stomachs.
Your handwriting is beautiful, happy and flowing. I love it.

    Please steal them @justanothergirl .
I know that the toughest part of cooking is the "what to cook". (Hmmm... how carefree those college days were, when our only problem used to be "what to wear".)
Thanks for the tip on storing cut veggies.
