    This was so adorable and funny at the same time. I am sure the husband's intentions were right. DH does this sometimes where he tries to make the host feel like their food is the best, it actually comes across as if I don't cook anything . Once we are home it turns out that he did not care for the food at all. It would upset me initially , but now I know it comes from a good place. Even the nicest and smartest people can put their foot in the mouth.
    One such incident that comes to mind, husband was in India visiting parents and calls me when they are around.
    H: hey mom has some jewellery , do you want it ?
    Me: No thanks !
    H: ( talking to himself): is it real gold ?
    ME: NO I don't want it
    H ( again to himself): are these real diamonds ?
    ME: NOOO! Please stop ! End this conversation right now !!:hollering:
    His parents were around and it seemed like I was the one asking these questions, i am sure they were thinking they have a greedy DIL !
    Needless to say, husband got a earful from me when he was back .

    Does wishing others would vanish count? : )

    We were entering a national park and long line of cars at the entrance to pay the entrance fee. We had already paid the previous day and it was good for 3 days. Better-half pulled out of the line and drove straight to the front of the line. The park ranger had to step out of her booth, cross the cars line and come to our car's window. She was understandably ticked off but polite as they always are. Told us off very nicely that every park visitor has to wait in line no matter already paid or not. Better-half tells her a few years ago they had two lines. : ) She responds, "Sir, a few years ago we had money to have more park rangers on duty." They address you as Sir/Ma'am even in these situations. : )

    I tried to slink lower in the passenger seat, and kept sliding down wishing I could disappear into the glove compartment. Better-half not as much bothered by it. Tells me it makes up for people who hold up lines searching for cash or credit card. : )

    I can understand well what the feeling would have been for you !
    But always , the person causing the embarassment would never know how bad it is ,
