Liked it. First time I hear the name of SuraManjari here. She is one fascinating character and one of my all time favourite since young. The novel is really beautiful, lost count of how many times I would have read it.

I have to agree with everyone who has mentioned Elizabeth Bennet.
Bridget Jones is another favourite, she is extremely relatable! Not to mention hilarious :D

Right now, the first character that comes to mind is Melody Callahan from J.J. McAvoy's Ruthless People series.

I think there were different women in different times. Today I recollect Miss Marple, a fictional character appearing in 12 of Agatha Christie's crime novels, and in 20 short stories...She was a superwoman for me in that time! I admired her. :clap2:

Nice thread ! My top three are,

    (1) Janu , from ancient promises by Jaishree Misra . This is almost autobiographical and Is about a woman stuck in a loveless marriage in conservative Kerala and how she comes out of it. A very inspiring novel.

    (2) Dominique francon , fountainhead . Just like how completely unaffected she is by what people think .

    (3) Shizuko , shizukos daughter . How she navigates her life after her mother commits suicide when she is eight .
