adding masalas to teh tea depends upon the weather/ season too. For eg ginger tea for winters cardmom tea for summer.
Shreya - I don't make my tea, that itself makes the tea refreshing & drinkable I shall now try the tips given here.
I make a masala powder and store in a tupperware dabba Take 100g sonthi (dry ginger), add about 10-15 black pepper, 10 x 2 inch sticks cinnamon, about 5-10 cloves and about 8-10 choti elaichi, dry roast in microwave INDIVIDUALLY and let cool and run in mixie - While making tea, boil water, put 2 pinches of the above powder and let boil for a minute, then only add the tea leaves, sugar and after that boils, then add hot or boiling milk and switch off, let steep for 2-3 mins, strain and serve hot Usually when my DH or DS have cold/cough, or I have any headaches or even back pain, it gets reduced if you drink this tea
Hey!! I love tea and to make it refreshing I like to add a few mint/pudina leaves.. It tastes awesome and has the health benefits of mint leaves too!!
till now i only knew about ginger-cardamom tea or black pepper tea, but wow, i came to know about so many different tastes and spices for just cup of tea,, thanks all for sharing....... and dear OP, congo for starting up the thread.. i love to have green tea with a little lemon juice.. it also tastes good!
Yes adding herbs like pippla mul, ganthola, elaichi, fresh and dry ginger makes tea refreshing. My Grandma used to make tea masala at home by pounding cloves, cinnamom, elaichi, dryginger, pepper, ganthola dried lemon grass, mint, tulsi leaves and the tea was such a refreshing. You can also try adding lemon juice after straining the ginger tea just before serving it taste really amazing.
Does anyone add fennel seeds? It tastes amazing too.... Half a tea-spoon of fennel seeds and 2-3 pinches of cardamom powder. Ah !!
I mix coffee and tea with milk and or I add home made masala for the tea it is very taste and healthy and it is my favourite
