My aunt wants to visit her brother on a tourist visa B-1 in the US, does he have to sponsor her? Is it possible to go to on a package tour and stay back for a few weeks at his place?
    Please help.

    Hi,

Visitors coming to USA for pleasure / medical purposes come in B2 visa which is given for 3months to 10years period. B1 visa is mainly for business purposes, if I am not wrong.

Yes, your aunt's brother needs to provide his details like a guarantor for this person visiting and leaving US within the stipulated time. He needs to provide details like in what immigration status he is in, his employment details, income details, will be able to bear this person's expenses while in the US, etc. All of those details are asked in the visa application itself. It's a little less than sponsoring, more of guarantee.

Yes, you can approach some travel agencies in India itself and inquire about package tours. But those tours have set dates and time for staying and leaving different cities/states within the US. Not sure how long she would be able to stay with her brother then.
