I so have to try this! Anyone cook parantha, Etc WITHOUT oil? Minus the potatoes because diabetes runs in our family
U can try methi/fenugreek paratha.. Recipe : chop fenugreek leaves , Bit of coriander leaves + Add Flour + Add ( Ginger + garlic +green chili paste ) + Jeera + Salt + 2 tablespoon gram flour , make tuff dough by adding small quantity of water .. u can also add raw onion if u want ..( onion shud be finely chopped) once dough is ready , u need bit of oil or even if u dont want u can skip it.. Also try palak paratha ( replace palak with methi in above recipe.. ) or beetroot paratha ( replace beetroot with methi ) and follow same one...
Tip:After you stuff the dough...keep it aside and cover with cloth .Let it set for ten minutes, then roll out.It is easier to roll and the parantha does not break. I make all the stuffed balls...flatten them out and keep them in a series. As the last ball is ready for setting, the first one is ready for rolling. These dry paranthas are good with curd. If you don't like such dry paranthas...add water to oil ,shake well and spray on the paranthas, instead of apply with spoon or brush.
Thanks @yellowmango I really liked Spraying of oil idea.. But i m not sure how to do that .. as oil and water never get mixed.. oil will make thin film on water ..
Also try Raddish/Muli parata ,.. Grate raddish and follow same recipe.. Onion paratha panner paratha Mint+ panner paratha n best is mix veggie and dal paratha.. Its super hgealthy .. if u have remaining Dal + veggies ( like Cabbage sabji ) , make healthy paratha.. and eat with curd or tomato chutney .,
I had this bottle with the spray attachment.I used to mix water and oil...shake a bit and spray.more oil and less water. Unfortunately I forgot to wash it properly and it hot a horrible rancid smell so I threw it away.
Hi I make two types of parathas. Stuffed : you can use potatoes, onion, cauliflower, cabbage, peas, sweet corn, steamed moong sprouts, also steamed moong dal. Mixed : mix into flour - finely chopped or grated - onion, coriander, methi, palak, cabbage, carrots, dudhi, mint. Add salt, jeera powder, garam masala, pepper powder, red chilli powder, Ginger, garlic to taste. Knead the dough using Yougurt/ curds / whey water. Your parathas will be soft without using oil. Also you can add whole sesame seeds, onion seeds or ground flax, pumpkin or sunflower seeds to the paratha dough for extra nutrition You could also add jowar/bajra/ragi/corn meal to the dough in proportion of 3 parts wheat and 1 part any other flour. Hope this helps Mani75
Tip:You can use any leftover sabzi to stuff in parantha. Just mash and stuff . Allu baingan(bringal)parantha. Allu gobhi parantha Aloo methi/Allu palak parantha. Just make sure the stuffing is not wet. Even leftover dal can be reduced by heating ,add chopped onions ,chillies, coriander leaves and make paranthas. You can add atta to the dal or wet curries and knead to make really soft rotis/paranthas.
