The great tabla player Zakir Hussain is no more. He was truly a legend and a worthy son of a great percussionist Alla Rakha. I have listened to the senior accompanying Ravi Shankar at the Music Academy a few times. Those memorable concerts remain etched in my memory. His son Zahir would partner with anyone and make the concert a memorable one. A great loss to the world of Indian classical music. May his soul rest in peace!
I was quite sad this morning on reading about his passing away. He was a great musician and wonderful human. His interviews were refreshing to listen to. But the thing about musicians is they never truly leave us. Their legacy and their great music lives on for us and the generations after us to enjoy and devour. I havent personally been to any of his live concerts but have listened to his recorded ones in youtube and in TV. I know i can listen to him anytime again but the thought that he is not with us to create more magic is saddening. May he attain sadgathi!
@beautifullife30 Very true bl30. But immortality is not restricted to music alone. It encompasses all souls who distinguish themselves in someway or other. Shakespeare, Wodehouse, RK Narayan, RK Laxman, Abdul Kalam, Gandhiji, of, the list of immortals is endless! Entharo Mahanubavulu!
