I am forever thankful to our first PM, Jawaharlal Nehru, for giving India a vision, direction, spirit to dare and dream a future for our nation when we were left with close to nothing by the British. On independence, a country as diverse/divided as ours could have taken so many wrong directions. But Nehru and his ministers helped form an India that would be guided by spirit of humanity and scientific temper. Our premier education institutions, Research organisation etc are all thanks to their vision.
We are yet to catch up with the vision of our forefathers yet. But I believe that we can, even during the bleakest of hours.
“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake"
– Rabindranath Tagore
I have many favorites: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji and Dr. Kalam for the reasons already stated!
Rajiv Gandhi- he was my first crush (he probably didn't want to be a politician but life had different plans for him)
Angela Merkel- Always liked her no-nonsense style.
Jacinda Ardern- for being such a strong leader (and I like the way she makes parenting part of the job, not to separate things)
Indira Gandhi is my favorite! The Iron Lady. Then Rajiv Gandhi. Finally Jaya Lalitha
For Iron Lady - I remember 4 times PM of UK Margaret Thatcher. One of my infinite favourites. She answered boldly to reporters and even terrorists.
ThenI remember the author of this belowquote.
Yes you guessed it right.
There is no need to Guess the name of this politician.
