Ok am back again No matter what, if there is one thing in this world that every woman agree, its - "Yes, I love Jewels" So here is a thread to share your favorite family jeweller and why do you like them - Luck? Design? Good deal? Love to hear your stories
Hey Nands, Caught you first on this thread ;-) (thanks to the side bar updates) Ours is ARC thanga maligai in Mayiladuthurai and GRT in chennai. I love everything about both. Designs - you get to choose the best one from their widest catalogue. Very charming designs. Price - You can bargain on kooli and sedharam. Plus we get a good bet on gold prices too Delivery - Their timely delivery. Trade in - Good price if you trade in your old jewelery. Luck - Ofcourse. So far nothing has gone wrong with our purchase touch wood. So far, it has been pleasant experience dealing with both of these merchants. Above all since parents live in Myl, ARC has been our family friends too. Love to hear other's opinions on this too. How about yours Nands? -Uma
Way to go Uma, being my first FB'er Good to hear from you... Me, Mangal & Mangal in Trichy and Lakshmi Jewellers in Kovai are both my family's favorite and from the time I remember, we had shopped only there. Both are our family friends and we are comfortable doing all major purchases with them. During weddings, they bring in all the sets home and all cousins used to sit leisurely and choose stuff.. hmmm.. those days !!! I miss 'em.. And thirunelveli RMKV is our pattu shopping place Then after marriage, it has been GRT mostly and Vummudi - I like their traditional designs. Thinking of checking out Tanishq this time... PS.. aama ennoda email reply vanthatha..
Nands, inga daan suthindu irukken Email vandhudhu, thanks dear. Still searching for my lost buddy :-( Unakku therinja sollu. GRT, is so memorable for me because I got my first jewel from there with my first salary (by my own), so oru proudness and happiness together. I heard from my friend that tanishQ has good designs (contemporary type). Have a great time shopping. For pattu usually we get from kancheepuram or thiribuvanam (near kumbakonam). Since you are visiting KK this time, try to see if you can make a trip to thiribuvanam. My kalyana pattu sarees are custom woven there. Romba nanna work pannirukka. These days we get pavadais for kutty from RMKV, panagal park. BTW, eppo oorukku kilambare? Now talking about jewelery and pattu I feel like attending a wedding. -Uma
Nandu, It hs been GRT Chennai for sometime-- for the design selection, convenience. Before GRT, it used to be Vummidi and a few jewelers in Mumbai
Uma... me too.. inge thaan iruken.... Good luck, kandeepa therincha solren... Thiribhuvanam... kandeepa poga try panren... I am leaving second week of March and will be back second week of April super..... Another GRT customer  Mumbai purchase, interesting.. how are these jewels... will it be southern type still, Usha?
Nandu, we can buy any type we want or get it done through jewelers. I have made purchases in Zaveri bazaar with my parents-- I like the bangles. And also if we choose the design, jewelers can get it to our specification whether south type or other. But these days, our trips are limited to maximum three weeks, it is convenient to just go to GRT and buy them. When I think of the crowds in that street in T.Nagar, I go :spin:spin:spin :drowning:crazy
GRT - for Quality, luck and designs Khazhana - for Quality, luck, no bargain - started purchasing from my marriage as my inlaws preferred this shop...
Ours is Lakshmi Jwellery in Coimbatore and GRT/Prince jwellery in Chennai. But my dad always prefers Lakshmi Jwellery for the quality and price.
