Holi has however metamorphosed from the time Krishna played with gulal in Brindavan to the time when Holi celebrations are marked by rain dance. But one thing is common over all the years - the Holi Song. Be it folk songs or popular Bollywood Holi numbers, Holi cannot be complete without lots of gaana bajana. Oh yeah...I second Ashwini, 'Rang barse' is my all time favorite..and the voice of Amitji makes it all the more nashila and masti bhari. I also like the fun and frolic of the Holi song from Sholay: holi ke din dil khil jaate hain rangon mein rang mil jaate hain gile shikawe bhul ke doston dushman bhi gale mil jaate hain Holi Hai!! Happy Holi friends. Hope you all had a great time. You are absolutely right Ashwini & Hardeep, even after so many decades 'Rang barse' has been one of the most freshest Holi Song ever. If you watch television, you can hear celebrities and common man alike sing this song when ever, they are asked to sing a Holi song. And Interestingly, everyone tries to sing in in the baritone of the one and only Amitabh Bachchan.
