Yoga practice any one?

    Practice and all is coming, so said Yoga guru Pattabhi Jois! I see a lot of enthusiasm here and support that is offered to one another in our pursuit for physical fitness! Now, may I ask any ILites interested in yoga to join me? I can assure you that all the stretching and bending will only aid in what you are trying to achieve. So let it be 20 min or 2 hrs, every day or alternate days, please come join me.

    I will for starters, update my routine on a weekly basis - the first one may be bi -weekly. I will also choose one asana as the asana for the week once we are settled to a routine with a regular practice. I am starting the middle of the week deliberately so that we all have a chance to make up over the weekend if we wish to bring in at least two days practice. I mostly follow Ashtanga yoga and let us begin the first week with just Surya namaskaras!

    Just a couple of pointers, well a few actually before we get started - Please only do what your body allows you to.

    • Use your breathing effectively when you practice.
    • Do not push if you feel pain - pain during yoga is not a good sign. If you are hurting, you are doing something wrong. In yoga, no pain no gain as we hear does not work! We want to feel what we call only good pain.
    • Try to hold each pose for a total of 5 inhalations and exhalations. As you learn to work the breath, hold the pose based on time say 5 secs in each pose.
    • As your practice progresses, you will learn to draw your breath longer and will be amazed at the progress you make as far as a pose is concerned.
    • Please as always check with your physician before you start any exercise routine including yoga.
    Routine for week 1 (July 4th - July 11th)

    Let us begin our practice with one OM!

    Sun salutations (SN) A - 5 Should take 10 min

    Let us end our practice with three OMs! If you wish, you can continue to meditate for a few minutes.

    Hopefully, some of you will find it inspiring to join me. Let us begin with SNs starting tomorrow morning.

    If you have any questions, please do post here. I will try to answer to the best of my ability.

    Please update the minutes and the number of SNs done for the day!

    Just a side note if you are wondering - I do do spinning on alternate days of the week in a gym. On those days, I plan on limiting yoga practice just SNs as we progress.

    I used to practice yoga regularly but some how lost the motivation and touch.:hide:
