(5)is this a good place or there are better places to visit closeby bangalore for a weekend(especially for the hot climate)?? (6)is this place safe to travel during night....i mean we might leave from bangalore on saturday evening...heard yelagiri is on hills,14 hairpin bends is what i heard...so will this place be safe when we go by car...are there enough lights on road? Any other information about yelagiri i have forgotten to ask...please do inform...it would be of great help!!!! Thanks in Advance
Swaran, "Yelagiri" brings me beautiful memories of my College life. We Class mates went a One day trip to this place from chennai. (1)how much time by road will it take to reach yelagiri from bangalore This place is near to Vellore. So from Bangalore it should not take more than 4-5 hours. (2)how would be the climate in may We went around the month march. It was not Spine Chilling Cold but cooler than chennai. You dont have to carry Blankets/sweaters. (3)what places are must see in yelagiri There is a lake where in you can go for boating and a small mountain where we trekked. Nothing more i remember. (4)is one day enough for the trip...basically planning to goto yelagiri sat nite so that we could roam on sunday and return back on the same day to bangalore?? One day is more than Enough. we started in the morning around 5:00 and reached back by Mid nite 1:00. (5)is this a good place or there are better places to visit closeby bangalore for a weekend(especially for the hot climate)?? If its only you and your DH, then its definitley worth going as this place is not much crowded and definitely you guys can spend nice time together.
(1) It will take 4-6 hrs to reach yelagiri by Car. The roads are awesome! (2)The climate would be pretty hot. (3) there is nothing much to see or do in yelagiri.. a small park, musical fountain, a temple, a lake for boating. I guess there is some option for trekking. You can visit Golden Temple from yelagiri, heard its some 90-100 kms from yelagiri. (4) One day is enough but it would be tiring for the person who drives. (5) This would be a good place to chill out and relax, if you opt for a good resort(Suggestioneter's park) Nothing much to roam about.. its quite hot in the day time. dont expect climate like ooty/coorg.. by evening it becomes cold.. mornings are almost the same as bangalore. Nandi hills would be better for a day's getaway as its closeby and it would be quite cool.
thanks a lot brahan for the first response....and i am happy that i got a first positive flag...i forgot to ask about one more and have added as 6th point...can you please help???!!! and 4-5 hours??...i heard its little less..mayb around 3..am i right???
thanks for the information chota beem...i thought the climate would be colder compared to bangalore during day?!!!!!...
Everybody says right Swaran. Me too visited Yelagiri during july i think. A pleasant weather will be there. Not at all cold. but mild chillness. But there s not much places to see. But Jalagamabarai/Jalagandeswara falls (i might have forgotten the falls name, not sure) near yelagiri. (took one hour from yelagiri). I am not remembering much Swaran. But i can assure that its really a wonderful place for one day's visit.
Swaran, I wont prefer travelling by night in the car. As you said there are lot of Hair pin bends and in addition this place is very deserted after 7:00 PM. You can start early in the Morning to avoid night travel
thanks for the response dear........this falls you have told, will it be closer to bangalore or we need to travel again from yelagiri? thanks dear........
Nice thread swaran.even i dont know abt elagiri. This informations are quite useful for me Thanks for such a cute informative thread
Got the info from my friend. giving it here Swaran. Jalagamparai waterfalls stay to be in the valley region downhill and are at little distance away from the Yeligiri. It's a beautiful place to be there and the experience is worth remembering. Waterfall's view is best in the days of November to February as they are fully loaded with water but the waterfall is little dry in the times of summers. These days the flow of water in the waterfall is considerably reduced as compared to recent past years, but still its scenic beauty has always been appreciated and liked by most of the tourists visiting the place and they have a great time there. Jalagamparai Falls(44 Km from Yelagiri)
