With all the news, updates, tweets, reactions, protest pouring in.. I've been growing more furious. . I also have a lot to say, but what to say. How will it help me and you? I am not angry at anyone for their updates, trust me. I am angry at my ugly fate... and the fate of millions of women across our country, who undergo a torture every minute of their lives. Was it for this torture that we were born in a country where women were once worshiped? I feel ashamed and disgusted! You might feel that I'm getting aggressive all of a sudden, but nothing is sudden. It's the prevailing problem which aggravates such emotions time and again.

From the past few days, I've been following a lot on the current issues and news about various laws and reforms the govt. is trying to work on. Also, about the views given by various women groups and NGOs on the same. There are certain things I got to know for the first time and it's nothing less than a shock.

I'd seen films which dealt with issues like trafficking and sex trade but never imagined how dreadful it could be for women and children who undergo it. Then I read about Ms. Ruchira Gupta and her NGO Apne Aap Women Worldwide which was established in 2002 and since then has been working towards women's rights and the eradication of human sex trafficking. She is constantly working to expose the connection between trafficking and prostitution as well as to demand a societal shift which acknowledges that male demand for prostitution is what continues, furthers and perpetuates trafficking.

Hoping high to have more people like Ms. Gupta who help stop these crimes against women in India and across the world. I also believe it is our moral and social responsibility to act towards any sort of atrocities we come across and help in being the voice of the voiceless.

    Thanks!
    Shreya
