Aparajitha, Tell me how many such incidents have you seen. May be countable .. Not all women have the capability to do so and also Not all drivers would be kind enough to stop the bus until the issue is solved. Coming to proffesional courses, yes your are right." Eamcet has reservations. That's why there are so many girls here and there". Just imagine how many girls would have got into Eamcet/IIT courses without Reservation. My point was to contradict " Let women prove themselves, then they can remove it " Women are also proving equal (Not in numbers or ratio ) to men in Education and various other fields. The ratio is still less. Yes, Mostly Urban women take advantage of this because they are more educated.
dear sonya well speaking about woman reservation in politics that too upto 50% tell me is it justified dear first thing is 50% is too much and tell me the ladies who get into politics are they backward???backward woman can never survive atleast in politics even after getting through reservation that is how the system is.. if a woman is coming into politics in present scenario i consider she is very much powerful and capable and no way she is backward or weak that she needs to get this reservation..
dear rekha the point is that the lady who is not ready to call a conductor rather she prefers to stand will never take the help of reservation too right?driver wont be kind? haha know what if a woman shouts in public out of mercy or to impress her god knows but lot of men always co-operate and will support a woman..even if the mistake is of a woman is she shouts in public everyone will support her..only the ladies who are powerful use this reservation backward people never used it..I never seen any backward people using reservations often compared to the capable people using it... and if woman wants to prove the equality and if they are already equal why again do they need reservation? and 50% is too much for a trail even..
Hi dear, regarding this issue I just want to draw your attention to this news that has appeared in the papers. The Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) will meet AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, MP, next week demanding changes in the Women’s Reservation Bill. The BMMA is also planning to meet President Pratibha Patil on the issue. “We are not against women’s reservation, we demand that there should be some changes in the Bill. The Bill as such will only benefit women of upper castes and classes. The system should be democratic. For that, there should be reservation within reservation. Quotas should be fixed for lower castes and classes, Muslims, fisher folk, rural people etc within the women’s reservation”, said Naish Hasan, founding member of the BMMA. The BMMA is holding press meets in several states explaining their stand in the matter. It is also planning to meet leaders like Reetha Bahuguna Joshi, President of the All India Mahila Congress, to explain its stand as well as demands regarding the Bill. The movement is active in many states like Uttar Pradesh, Dalhi, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, etc. The Sachar Committee report has stated clearly the backwardness of the Muslim community. “If even the general Muslim public cannot fare well, how can one expect Muslim women to fare better?” asks Ms. Hasan. Among the 59 women in the Parliament now, only a very few come from the backward classes. Besides all the existing divisions, Ms. Hasan says nowadays there is another new caste - the political caste. It consists of wives and other family members of politicians. The BMMA leader also speaks about the need for a change in the reservation system. According to her, a community or group of people that gets reservation now need not remain reserved forever. There should be a method of evaluation in the system every 10 years. If those enjoying reservation are in a better condition after 10 years, the reservation should be taken away. “If Mayawati and Meira Kumar demand Dalit reservation, it should not be allowed,” she said. She expressed her pleasure in the decision of the UPA Government to take the matter of women’s reservation seriously, planning to bring it in 100 days. Ms. Hasan asks Muslim women to come forward. Though, she acknowledges they would have to face problems from the community, the State and the civil society if they came out to the open world.I want your views regarding this. with love pad
I think people here have understood the meaning of this reservation totally wrong. This reservation is not for backward people. The main motive behind this is to increase the number of women in Lok Sabha, so that women issues are represented more prominently. Its not 50% reservation, its 33% which is very reasonable That's why, we actually need more urban and educated woman in Lok Sabha. We can't and should not send any uneducated man or woman to the Lok Sabha in any case. It should only be for educated people who can work for the betterment of this country. And educated women are not only in big cities, they are everywhere.
Yes! what jasminderkaur is saying is correct. The bill is for 33% reservation for women. All political patries agree in one thing & unanimous that is not to pass women reservation bill. They want to create(increase) 33% more seats in Loksabha & then give reservation to women. Yes there should be reservation with a time limit say 10 years or 20 years....... Then review the situation. If it is not required after 10 years you don't have to reserve seats then...... Educated not educated, Rural or urban women should be there in parliament who can address & put forth some of our problems which men cannot understand....... Let us see what happens....& hope for the best.
We can debate over this issue all we want, but our old buddhas in Parliament will never let this bill get passed. A certain Mr. Yadav even threatened to eat poison if this bill is passed. This is the mentality of our Indian MPs. They will never let women progress in their own will.
i accept with geeta this bill getting approved is not an easy task rather why don't woman come up in open competition and prove themselves
YESSSS, I totally agree with you. Why wait for the crutches of reservation to improve the condition of women in this country? You know what's wrong with this world? We have left the task of running it to Men!!! Tell me, how can a species that doesn't know how to match its socks with his shoes, run a country? :rotfl Women should take charge of their own lives. Stop being so timid girls. Rights are snatched to requested. Drop the Jhandas of "Nari Mukti" and do some real work for it!
